AF SYMPOSIUM 2019

Arrhythmia Alliance in connection with the AF Association attended the 24 th annual AF Symposium in Boston.

This intensive, highly focused three-day symposium brought together the world's leading medical scientists to share in a highly interactive environment the most recent advances in the field of atrial fibrillation.

We had a fantastic time in Boston and greatly appreciated the opportunity to connect with medical professionals, faculty members and guests while learning the most recent information on the clinical science of AF and
AF-related stroke.
Did you know, AFib patients have a 5-fold higher
risk of developing an AF-related stroke?
Watch as David Premo , an atrial fibrillation patient, stroke survivor
and one of Arrhythmia Alliance/ AF Association's dedicated volunteers shares his journey to recovery.

In 2017, David suffered a significant stroke with aphasia. Listen as he shares decision points, plans and actions taken to regain speech, resume his position as a university professor and gain recognition as a Division Director of Toastmaster.
David’s success is a result of following the advice of Abraham Lincoln,
“If it is going to be, it is up to me.”
The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) is interested in what matters most to patients with Atrial Fibrillation

The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and participation is voluntary.
All responses are collected anonymously and no identifiable information will be collected.

Deadline for participation is February 28, 2019
It is important that healthcare services focus on the outcomes that matter most to patients. This includes quality of life and physical functioning, as well as stroke prevention. Over the past 12 months, together with world experts including patients, we have been developing a set of health outcomes for people with AF (the AF Standard Set). This Standard Set will be used by healthcare providers around the world to support improvement in the quality of healthcare services.

Thank you very much for your time and input - Trudie Lobban MBE

Interested in establishing a local Support Group?
Support groups provide an invaluable service to patients. Meetings represent a forum for patients, their caregivers, friends and families to gain information, emotional support, share common experiences and learn more about their conditions. The most successful groups are ran through a partnership between patients/caregivers and medical professional.

If you are interested in starting a Patient Support Group in your area,
please email Sharonica at [email protected]
