Lovejoy High School
A Message from the Principal
Lovejoy HS News 05 28 19

P arents and Guardians,

I have to admit I have mixed emotions as we enter this final week of school. I am excited for our graduating Seniors, and yet am sad that they are moving on from LHS. On behalf of the staff here at LHS, we wish the best for all our Seniors as they transition into this new phase of their lives. We also hope that you can join us for our Class of 2019 Graduation Ceremony that will take place this Saturday, June 1st at 10 a.m. in the Allen Event Center.
Our underclassmen began taking their Final Exams today and will continue each day through Friday. Don't forget that each day this week is an Early Release day and students will be dismissed for lunch at 12:00 p.m. and can leave at that time if they have transportation. Bus load times for Wednesday and Thursday are 12:30 p.m. Busses will load at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Friday.
This Friday, we also invite you to join us between 10:15 a.m. - 10:30 am for our Senior Walk.  Senior students will take a final walk through the building and will exit through the courtyard where underclassmen, parents, and others will cheer them on. It is a great tradition and we would love for you to join us if you can.
Have a great week!

Double Checking Course Requests
Students and Parents:

Please carefully review your high school course requests before leaving for summer break. Instructions are attached and are included in your Class of 2020, 2021, and 2022 Google Classroom. Besides AP courses, this is your last opportunity to make any changes. Make sure your alternates are courses in which you are committed to taking as well.
For courses which require an audition (band, choir, orchestra, etc.), we will place you in the correct level following auditions. We will get a list from your directors, you do not need to contact us.
The final day to drop an AP course  is July 19. After that date, you are committed to taking an AP course listed in your course requests.   Please reference the AP Exit Policy for more details.   Remember, if you enroll in an AP course, you are required to pay for and take the AP exam.
Please reach out to your counselor if you have any questions.

Important News from Student Nutrition Regarding Student Meal Accounts
This is a courtesy message from Lovejoy Student Nutrition Services to inform households of an upcoming change in student meal accounts. In an effort to minimize negative balances at the end of the school year, beginning Wednesday, May 8 and for the remainder of the school year, students will no longer be able to charge meals which will result in the student incurring a negative balance to their meal account. Students may continue to use their lunch accounts as long as they have money in the account. Households with students who currently have negative balances will receive reminder emails and phone calls. Federal regulations prohibit us from rolling over negative balances to the next school year. Please make arrangements to remit payment for any negative lunch accounts your child may have incurred.
All positive balances will be rolled over to next school year. If you have a graduating senior, funds may be transferred to any sibling in the school district. To request a meal account refund, please complete a refund request form located on the Student Nutrition website. For assistance, please contact Student Nutrition at 469.742.8041.
Student Nutrition Services thanks you for your understanding and for allowing us to serve your student(s) this school year.

Student Withdrawals
For those students in grades 9-11 who will not be returning to LHS for the 19/20 school year, please complete this  Summer Withdrawal Form  and return to or have your student drop it off at the counselors' office as soon as possible.
