Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
April 19, 2021

Parents and Guardians,

We are down to the final six weeks of school. Even as I write this, I can't believe how quickly the end of the school year is approaching.
Tomorrow we will be administering the English I End Of Course (EOC) exam that was rescheduled from April 6th. This test is primarily for 9th graders and will begin at approximately 8:45 a.m. in their assigned room. Exam room assignments will be posted in the Commons tomorrow morning, and all exams will be given on-campus. Students do not need to register for the exams.
In just a few weeks we will begin the next round of state and national testing. Advanced Placement exams will begin on Monday, May 3rd and continue through Friday, May 14th. End of Course exams will take place on Tuesday, May 18th (US History), Wednesday, May 19th (Biology), and Thursday, May 20th (Algebra 1). Friday, May 21st will be the make-up day for students who are absent from their regularly scheduled EOC exam. Even though these are still a couple of weeks away, I wanted to make sure you had them on your calendar.
Thank you for helping ensure LISD receives the maximum amount of funding for student attendance. As a reminder, if your child is signed up for on-campus instruction learning during Q4, they should be present every day on campus, unless they are officially quarantined or are absent for other valid reasons such as illness, doctor's appointments, etc….
Below you will find more information about upcoming events as well as student recognitions. Please take a few minutes to review them.

NHS Annual Service Project to Support Children's Health

This year Lovejoy High School National Honor Society has selected to partner with and support Children's Health for our annual service project.  Children's Health is a pediatric healthcare system that is devoted to caring for the medical needs of children.   The LHS NHS will not be sponsoring a single event, but will, instead, provide several opportunities for the NHS members and Lovejoy community to honor and support the patients of Children’s Health.  NHS members are making cards, blankets, and fabric hearts to donate and will also be hosting “Superhero Day” at LHS.

PTO Scholarship Application Available
The Parent-Teacher Organizations in the Lovejoy Independent School District each will award one $500 scholarship to a college-bound senior graduating from Lovejoy High School in 2021. This centralized application means that each student completes the application ONCE, but is eligible for PTO scholarships through the Lovejoy schools they attended (plus the Lovejoy Council and Preschool PTO).
All student applicants (a) must have attended LHS during their sophomore, junior, and senior years; (b) belong to the LHS Parent-Teacher-Student Organization; (c) complete the online scholarship application, including the essays; (d) upload a resume; and (e) have one letter of recommendation submitted.
To begin the application process, students must complete a brief survey, located online at 2020-21 Scholarship INTENT TO APPLY. This survey, which requests their name and email address, indicates their intent to apply.
Once the above Intent to Apply survey is received, we will send the student a link to the online scholarship application via email. This link will allow students exit and return to the application in case they cannot complete it in one sitting.
Please email Shannon Verschage at if you have any questions regarding this application.
