Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
December 14, 2020

Parents and Guardians,

With just a few more days until the end of the semester, students and staff are taking semester exams this week and getting excited about the holiday break. As you can imagine, nobody needs reminding about how many more days of school we have.

Although semester exams can add to the stress level of students, they also provide an opportunity for students to show their teachers what they have learned. We schedule exams out over four days to help balance the number of tests they take each day and to assist students in their preparation. Students began testing today and will continue through Thursday. Although your student may ask you to check them out early this week, please only do this if it is absolutely necessary. Calling classrooms to release students usually interrupts other students that haven’t finished their exam yet. We want every student to have the opportunity to complete their exams with as little distraction as possible. Please also review the Fall Semester Exam schedule below to see when students will be released from school each day.

Lovejoy High School will be closed beginning Friday, December 18th and will reopen at our regular time on Wednesday, January 6th. If you will need a transcript or VOE during the break please let us know this week so we can process those prior to closing on Friday.

As a reminder, Monday, January 4th and 5th are LHS Staff Professional Development Day and LHS students have a holiday. Students will need to check PowerSchool for their 2nd semester schedule before reporting to classes on January 6th. We will have staff available in the Commons and the Library on that day to support students who have questions about their schedule or were unable to access it online.

Also, We anticipate some student schedules will change as we adjust for the numbers of students on and off campus based on Learning Environment selections for Q3. Changes in these requests will be processed over the break and impacted students will receive communication from their counselor or principal prior to our return in January.

I truly hope you and your student enjoy this holiday season and have the opportunity to spend meaningful time with each other.
