Parents and Guardians,
This past weekend, many of you had the chance to see the LHS performance of BeeHive. I attended on Thursday night and again witnessed the tremendous talent and great work of our LHS students, directors, and parents. Congratulations to everyone who performed, built sets, worked with the sound and lighting, drove kids to practice, or had any other part in putting on the show. It was truly awesome!
During the month of March we have two testing dates that I want to make sure you are aware of. On Wednesday, March 3rd we will be giving the SAT test to all 11th graders. The test will take place during the school day and is free to all 11th graders through state funding. Only 11th graders are eligible to take the exam and all 9th, 10th, and 12th graders will have a regular day of school. On Wednesday, March 24th all 9th grade students will take the PSAT. While 9th graders are taking the exam, all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders will have a regular day of school.
Students who have selected the Leopard Virtual Learning option will have the opportunity to come on campus on those testing days to take the exams. CollegeBoard does not give a virtual option for either test. Please note that on both testing dates all students not involved in testing will attend their normal classes. This is a change to the campus calendar that had indicated non-testers would have asynchronous instruction those days. More details about both exams will be shared in the coming weeks.
Please take a few moments to read below about some of the other great things our students are doing. There is also information regarding important dates and events coming up in the near future. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Chris Mayfield

Parents,
Please note that any student or student with a family member waiting on results of a COVID test, due to being symptomatic, must remain at home.
If your student is not feeling well, please keep them at home and allow them to attend school virtually. This also includes not participating in any on-campus athletic practices or other events. Please see pages 25 and 26 in the LISD Planning Guide 2020-21
UIL requires that a student who has been diagnosed with COVID - 19 must receive a clearance from a physician prior to participation in athletics.
COVID Return to Athletics Form can be found HERE. For questions regarding this Athletic Form, please contact Susan Smiley, our Head Athletic Trainer at susan_smiley@lovejoyisd.net.
If your child is exposed to a positive lab confirmed COVID case or experiences symptoms, please email the school nurse at amy_dresser@lovejoyisd.net.
Symptomatic students should not be at school. If they become symptomatic at school, they must check in with the nurse before leaving campus.
Stay safe and healthy,
