Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
February 22, 2021

Parents and Guardians,

It was great to get back to school today and see students and staff. I know many of our families experienced significant challenges from last weeks weather, but I also know there were many friends, neighbors, and community members that stepped in to support those in need. It reminded me of why I am so proud to be part of the Lovejoy Community.

Our school closure last week impacted several dates and events. Please take a few minutes to review the information below so you are aware of those changes.

Also, the window is open for parents to change their child’s Learning Environment for the last quarter of the school year. Information on how to do this can be found in the email below. If you would like for them to continue with their current selection then you do not need to do anything. The deadline to make a change from your child’s current selection is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1st. As a reminder, students who have selected “On-Campus” as their environment are expected to attend all classes each day unless they are quarantined or isolated for COVID.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

Notes from the Nurse
Parents,

Please note that any student or student with a family member waiting on results of a COVID test, due to being symptomatic, must remain at home.

If your student is not feeling well, please keep them at home and allow them to attend school virtually. This also includes not participating in any on-campus athletic practices or other events. Please see pages 25 and 26 in the LISD Planning Guide 2020-21

UIL requires that a student who has been diagnosed with COVID - 19 must receive a clearance from a physician prior to participation in athletics.

COVID Return to Athletics Form can be found HERE. For questions regarding this Athletic Form, please contact Susan Smiley, our Head Athletic Trainer at susan_smiley@lovejoyisd.net.

If your child is exposed to a positive lab confirmed COVID case or experiences symptoms, please email the school nurse at amy_dresser@lovejoyisd.net.

Symptomatic students should not be at school. If they become symptomatic at school, they must check in with the nurse before leaving campus.
