Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your student enjoyed the holiday weekend. Although we have only been back in school a couple of weeks, I know our students and staff were glad to have it.
Next week, Lovejoy High School Theatre and Choir students will be performing Beehive Thursday through Saturday (January 28-30) at 7 pm in the LHS Auditorium. Seating will be limited due to social distancing restrictions. Look for more information about the musical as well as a link to purchase tickets below.
I also want to say a special congratulations to our LHS Cheer program on their 3rd place overall finish at the State UIL Spirit competition last Wednesday. We also had UIL State recognized success in our Band and Choir programs as several students were selected as All-State after a rigorous competition. More information about these groups can be found below.
Please take a few moments to read below about some of the other great things our students are doing. There is also information regarding important dates and events coming up in the near future. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Chris Mayfield

Varsity Girls Soccer Complete in Colleyville Tournament
On Thursday, in their first game of the Colleyville Tournament, the girls played 5A Region 1 TASCO #1 Grapevine and came up short 1-0 in windy conditions. The girls fought hard the entire game but couldn't find the equalizer.
On Friday, vs. Liberty Christian the girls won 3-1 in windy conditions. In the first half, Hannah Dunlap scored from the spot after a handball in the box. In the second half, Cambry Patrick (first varsity goal) and Avery Templin scored off crosses from Taylor Person.
On Saturday, vs. 6A Region 1 TASCO #1 Flower Mound the team lost 2-0 after two first half goals. The team had a few chances of their own to close Flower Mound's lead in the game but couldn't find the back of the net.
Overall it was a good learning experience for the team playing against some top teams in the area as we head into the district season next week. Up next is Senior Recognition Night on Tuesday at 7:15 at LHS vs. West Mesquite. Then district starts on Friday at 7:15 at LHS vs. The Colony.

Congratulations to junior Aidan Abramson, Tenor 1, who earned a place in the prestigious 2021 Texas All-State Mixed Choir over the weekend! This has been a particularly challenging year for singers since they are never unmasked during rehearsals or performances, and they are also wearing face shields and socially distanced from other choir members. We are proud of Aidan for this incredible accomplishment during this difficult time!
