A Message from the Principal

Parents and Guardians,


We hope everyone is having a great summer so far.

 

As a reminder, the high school will be closed from June 22nd–July 8th. We will reopen on July 11th. If your student will need a VOE before July 11th, please send in your request now to [email protected] and it will be available for pick up tomorrow before the break.

 

Below you will find some additional information regarding events coming up during the summer. Please let us know if we can help answer any questions or provide additional information.

 Deadline for Course Selection Change Requests

Tomorrow, June 21st


The deadline to request a course change for the 2022-2023 school year is June 21st at 4:30pm using this form. Please do not email your counselor. Counselors will only be using this form to make course request changes. There will not be any course request changes after June 21 except for AP drops.

Rising Seniors - Class of 2023 - Senior Portraits


Sessions are now available for Class of 2023 Senior Portraits. Go to bephoto.com to sign up. 

Rising Seniors - Class of 2023 Senior Meetings

July 20th & July 21st in the Lecture Hall


Please join the counseling team for a senior meeting. All parents and students are encouraged to attend one of the dates. This event will not be recorded. 


July 20th: 10:00am-10:30am

July 21st: 3:00pm-3:30pm


Topics to be addressed: meet the counseling team, college applications, FERPA, transcript requests, recommendation letters, and FAFSA. 

Freshmen Founder's Day/New Student Orientation

Thursday, August 11th 1:00 pm - 3:15 pm


We will be hosting Founder's Day for all incoming freshmen as well as any high school students new to Lovejoy this year. Students will be given a brief overview of what to expect at LHS and tour the school building.

9th Grade Parent & New to LHS Parent Meeting

Thursday, August 11th 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the LHS Auditorium


We welcome all freshmen parents, as well as those parents new to Lovejoy High School, to join us in the Auditorium at 6:30 pm for helpful information for parents to know as their student transitions to the high school.


Counselor Corner

AP Course Drop Requests Begin July 18th:

The request to drop an AP course will open July 18, 2022 and close on July 29, 2022 at 4:30pm using this form



Class of 2022:  If you requested your final transcript in Naviance or through the postsecondary Google form before June 16, 2022, the transcript has been sent.  All other transcript requests will be sent when counselors return the week of July 18, 2022.



Class of 2023: In order for the counseling department to send your transcript to colleges, a FERPA form must be completed. Please print, sign and return the completed form to the counseling office.

9th-11th Graders 2022-2023 Course Request Change Form: 

All students are required to verify their course requests for the 2022-2023 school year in PowerSchool. Please use this form to request any changes to the 2022-2023 course requests in PowerSchool.  The form will be open from May 23-June 21, 2022. The form will close on June 21, 2022 at 4:30pm. Please do not email your counselor with course request changes. AFTER JUNE 21 at 4:30pm, STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO MAKE CHANGES TO THEIR COURSE REQUESTS AND THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SCHEDULE CHANGES WHEN SCHOOL STARTS. It is imperative you check your course requests to make sure they are accurate. 



9th-11th Graders Please Update PowerSchool:

9th-11th graders must build/update their 4 year plan in PowerSchool through the parent portal. Our goal is for all students and parents to develop a plan which helps the student reach his/her goals. Please remember this is a fluid plan and can be changed at any time. This video will walk you through the steps to build/update your plan.


 

Juniors! Are you interested in the economics/personal financial literacy class? We will know this summer if the State Board of Education approves the course. Please click here below for additional information.

PowerSchool


Parents please take a minute to log in to PowerSchool to ensure the accuracy of your password. Over the summer, the district will push out information that will require you to access PowerSchool such as state testing results, transportation registration for 2022-2023, etc. If you need to have your password reset, please contact Laura Hobbs at [email protected]

Transportation for 2022-2023 School Year


If you are interested in signing up for bus service for the Fall semester of the 2022-23 school year, the window for registration opens on Tuesday, May 31. Registration will remain open until July 21. Bus service registration is located in PowerSchool under the Transportation Section. Please register in PowerSchool no later than July 21.    


Bus service payments will NOT be open or accepted until Wednesday, July 13; after the 13th, you will have a two week window to submit payment for the Fall semester. This window will close at the end of the day on Wednesday, July 27. The fees for bus service are as follows:


AM or PM only $140/semester

Both AM and PM $175/semester


The registration window for the Spring semester will open in mid-October for returning bus riders. Open registration for all families will begin in mid-November. You may access the 2022-2023 Transportation Guidelines here. 

 Registrar Information

Moving this summer? Please complete thMoving Questionnaire if you plan to move over the summer. We will update your address and send you a withdrawal form to complete. If you have any questions, contact [email protected]

VOE (Verification of Enrollment)


Don't forget to send in your request before we close for the break. If your student needs a VOE for driver's permit or license, please send requests to [email protected]. We will leave the completed VOEs for pick up in the front foyer during summer school business hours. This week LHS is open Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  We will reopen on July 11th.
