Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
March 29, 2021

Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that we are almost into April! With LHS Graduation scheduled for exactly two months from today, the end of the school year will be here before we know it. This time of year also marks the beginning of state testing. Next week many of our students will be taking their End of Course (EOC) Exams. The English I EOC Exam will primarily include all 9th graders and will be administered on Tuesday, April 6th. On Thursday, April 8th, our 10th grade students will take the English II EOC Exam.  All exams will be given on-campus and students do not need to register for these.
As I shared last week, Lovejoy ISD has learned from the Texas Education Agency that districts will be eligible for "Hold Harmless" state aid funding in the Spring Semester based on on-campus attendance participation rates during the last 6-weeks of school. We need your help to get our full funding. If your child is signed up for on-campus instruction learning during Q4, please make sure they are present every day on campus unless they are officially quarantined or are absent for other valid reasons such as illness, doctor's appointments, etc. When reviewing your student’s attendance in PowerSchool you will see the designation “PF” for Present Face-to-Face or “PS” for Present Synchronously (virtually).
Finally, this Friday, April 2nd and next Monday, April 5th are student holidays. Lovejoy High School will be closed on both of those days. I hope you and your student have a great four-day weekend.
Please take a few minutes to review the information below including our recognition portions that celebrate some of our students and programs.

AP Testing Dates
Monday, May 3rd - Friday, May 14th

This year Lovejoy High School will be administering Advanced Placement exams between May 3rd and May 14th. Exams will be the traditional paper and pencil exams and will follow the exam schedule that can be found HERE. All students will be required to take their AP exams in this testing window.
Although CollegeBoard had provided schools with some flexibility to the format (digital exams are available), Lovejoy High School opted not to use those options. They are only offered on certain dates and this would have resulted in a conflicts for students. The windows for these exams were either the same dates as LHS Final Exams for 9th-12th graders, or a window that occurred after the academic school year had ended.
Challenges in the digital platform our students experienced last year also played a factor in this decision. Additionally, we considered the inability to revise answers in the current digital exams as a reason to utilize the paper and pencil platform.
If you have questions about Advanced Placement Exams please contact Mary Cabrera at or Bruce Coachman at
