A Message from the Principal
May 10, 2021

Parents and Guardians,

We had a great week of AP testing last week. Both students and staff worked hard, were flexible, and truly did an awesome job. Although one week of exams is now complete, we continue with AP testing this week and get ready for End Of Course Exams next Tuesday through Thursday. I know it can be a stressful and difficult time for students and teachers, but they have done a fantastic job preparing through the year for this.
With graduation less than three weeks away, there are lots of activities going on at LHS. Please take a few minutes to read through the email below for important upcoming events and dates.

You’ll smile as you hear our choirs sing “Mr. Blue Sky,” or “Yellow Submarine,” and of course the ubiquitous, “True Colors.” Our show will feature songs all about colors and be a ONE NIGHT ONLY event held in the LHS Courtyard & back parking lot.

Bring your lawn chairs or watch the show safely from the comfort of your car as you listen to the show broadcast through your radio! The show will be FREE - but we will post a link for you to make a suggested donation in lieu of tickets.

WSMS Choir will present their show on the same night, right before ours, so come early and enjoy a full night of singing, dancing, and celebration!
***IMPORTANT NOTE: Specialty soloists will have the opportunity to sing without masks. They will be socially distanced from other singers and the audience. They will keep masks on as they walk on stage, unmask to sing their solo, and then put their mask on before exiting the stage. It is still a requirement that our audience and choir members remain masked for the entirety of the show.

Texas Education Agency Parent Survey for Lovejoy High School
CTE Programs
Each year, the Division of Special Populations Monitoring at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Methods of Administration program (MOA) conducts reviews of access to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in districts across the state. This year Lovejoy ISD was chosen as one of those districts.
As part of the review, parents and students are asked to take part in a survey to better understand how students of varying races, color, nation of origin, home language, ethnicity, sex, and disabilities are treated and served, particularly in CTE classes, by the district.
Attached below is a letter to LISD parents that explains the purpose of the survey as well as providing a link to access it. Also, parents of students in CTE programs will receive an email from their child’s teacher next week asking if they will provide consent for their student to complete a similar survey.
The surveys will remain open until June 7, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

This is a great chance to get started on your testing plan, or if you have already started, it will provide additional practice. Taking practice tests under timed conditions is essential to being ready for the official test. A proctored practice exam will help your child build testing endurance and give a real-time snapshot of his or her testing performance.

Dates:   Saturday, June 5, 2021 (ACT)
             Saturday, June 26, 2021 (ACT)
Time:   8:00am – 12:00pm (Live Online)
Materials will be emailed to students 24 hours before the exam.
Every exam comes with a free 30-minute score report review with Revolution Prep’s testing expert to assess specific strengths and areas of improvement. We highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity. Schedule your consultation to review the score report with our school’s dedicated advisor, Jayme Wakefield, who will help you interpret the results and develop a customized plan to prepare for the official exam.
