Parents and Guardians,

Happy Summer! Although I know today is just the first official day of the break, I hope you get to start enjoying the activities and changes that summer brings to your schedules very soon. We had a fantastic graduation this past Saturday and now are moving into our summer activities of planning, scheduling, hiring, and preparing for a great next school year here at LHS. 

As mentioned in earlier communication, Dr. Travis Zambiasi has been named the new LHS Principal for the upcoming school year. He and I will be working together over the next couple of weeks to make the transition as smooth as possible. Please note that we have a Meet and Greet opportunity for LHS parents with Dr. Zambiasi next Tuesday, June 7th at 5:00 p.m. in the LHS Lecture Hall. I hope you will be able to attend and welcome him to the Lovejoy family.

Dual Credit Payments Due Wednesday, June 1st

Rising Seniors Class of 2023 - Senior Portraits

Sessions are now available for Class of 2023 Senior Portraits.  Go to bephoto.com to sign up. 

Students who turned in a dual credit permission form for 2022-2023:

At this time we ask that you log into Cougar Web and pay for your dual credit classes. Registration and Payment deadline for Lovejoy ISD is June 1st. Attached is a helpful guide on how to make a payment through Cougar Web. If you would like to enroll in the payment plan option, please use the attached link and further instructions will be provided at a later date. We ask that you provide an email address that you will check to ensure you will receive the instructions on how to set up the payment plan. Failure to sign up for the payment plan will result in the student being dropped from dual credit for non-payment. Additionally, we would like you to view your dual credit classes in the system to make sure you are signed up for the correct classes. For now, please ignore the times on the courses as those will be adjusted in July once Collin receives the rosters from Lovejoy ISD.  Please continue to check your email you used to apply to Collin College. You may still have holds to complete before Collin College can register you in your courses.

Class of 2023: In order for the counseling department to send your transcript to colleges, a FERPA form must be completed. Please print, sign and return the completed form to the counseling office.

9th-11th Graders 2022-2023 Course Request Change Form: 

All students are required to verify their course requests for the 2022-2023 school year in PowerSchool. Please use this form to request any changes to the 2022-2023 course requests in PowerSchool.  The form will be open from May 23-June 21, 2022. The form will close on June 21, 2022 at 4:30pm. Please do not email your counselor with course request changes. AFTER JUNE 21 at 4:30pm, STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO MAKE CHANGES TO THEIR COURSE REQUESTS AND THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SCHEDULE CHANGES WHEN SCHOOL STARTS. It is imperative you check your course requests to make sure they are accurate. 

9th-11th Graders Please Update PowerSchool:

9th-11th graders must build/update their 4 year plan in PowerSchool through the parent portal. Our goal is for all students and parents to develop a plan which helps the student reach his/her goals. Please remember this is a fluid plan and can be changed at any time. This video will walk you through the steps to build/update your plan.

Juniors! Are you interested in the economics/personal financial literacy class? We will know this summer if the State Board of Education approves the course. Please click here below for additional information. 

Summer Hours

Operation Unite - Volunteers Needed

Lovejoy ISD staff will be holding a drill to test logistics and communication planning in case of a real emergency in the district, and need student volunteers (completed grades 2 and up). The event will take place on June 7 from 8am to 11am. High school students are welcome (and volunteer hours will be confirmed upon request) but should be dropped off and picked up by their parents. WSMS students who have applied to NJHS may earn up to 3 service hours for the fall 2022 semester by volunteering at this event.

PowerSchool

Parents please take a minute to log in to PowerSchool to ensure the accuracy of your password. Over the summer, the district will push out information that will require you to access PowerSchool such as state testing results, transportation registration for 2022-2023, etc. If you need to have your password reset, please contact Laura Hobbs at laura_hobbs@lovejoyisd.net. 

Transportation for 2022-2023 School Year

If you are interested in signing up for bus service for the Fall semester of the 2022-23 school year, the window for registration opens on Tuesday, May 31. Registration will remain open until July 21. Bus service registration is located in PowerSchool under the Transportation Section. Please register in PowerSchool no later than July 21.    

Bus service payments will NOT be open or accepted until Wednesday, July 13; after the 13th, you will have a two week window to submit payment for the Fall semester. This window will close at the end of the day on Wednesday, July 27. The fees for bus service are as follows:

AM or PM only $140/semester

Both AM and PM $175/semester

The registration window for the Spring semester will open in mid-October for returning bus riders. Open registration for all families will begin in mid-November. You may access the 2022-2023 Transportation Guidelines here.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks that have not been picked up, may be picked up this week on Thursday and Friday in the LHS Front Lobby from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

VOE (Verification of Enrollment)

If your student needs a VOE for driver's permit or license, please send requests to maria_arnold@lovejoyisd.net.  We will leave the completed VOEs for pick up in the front foyer during summer school business hours.  This week LHS is open Tuesday-Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Graduation Photos & Video

Stay tuned for information on ordering the photos taken before the ceremony  and of seniors as they crossed the stage during graduation.  We will send this out as soon as we receive the information from B&E Photo.

Senior Class Yard Signs

The Senior Booster Club gifted a Class of 2022 yard sign to each senior.  Don't forget to stop by and pick up your sign from the LHS front lobby.
