A Message from the Principal
November 16, 2020

Parents and Guardians,

Believe it or not, we are in the final week of school before the Thanksgiving Break. I know our kids are excited about taking a break from school, and I hope you and your student spend some meaningful time together next week.
As a clarification, this Friday, November 20th is a “B” Day at LHS. Some early calendars had a different designation for Friday, November 20th, but it will be a regular school day.

Don't forget that LHS will be closed while students and staff are on break from Monday, November 23rd through Friday, November 27th. If there is something you will need during that week (VOE's - required paperwork for student driver permits, transcripts, etc...), please let us know this week so we can assist you before then.
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching next week, I am reminded of how thankful I am for our Lovejoy community. This is a unique place, and I am grateful to be part of it. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and take the opportunity to reflect on, and appreciate, the things you have to be thankful for.

Notes from the Nurse
As we move into the holiday season, this year will need to look a little different to help keep our families and community safe. The CDC has provided some suggestions on how to celebrate while being mindful and careful during this pandemic. The following information reminds us that we can all do our part to help each other.

Stay safe and healthy,

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test
Thursday, December 3rd

If your student is interested in taking the ASVAB test, they can sign up here

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery measures your student's knowledge and ability in ten different areas. It is not an IQ test, but the ASVAB does help the US Military assess which jobs they are best suited to perform.

Taking this test does not commit students to the military and this is the only planned test administration this year.

For any other questions, you can contact your student's counselor.

On Friday, November 13, LHS Swim and Dive hosted their first meet ever by competing in the Virtual Dallas Cup. Very special thanks to Dr Womack and Coach Puckett in building our pool into the base of operations for ongoing championship training.
Dallas Cup
Results are being compiled with other teams and pools this week and then overall results will be available, but it was very impressive to see how far our JV swimmers and underclassmen boys performed. Almost a dozen best times and great experience gained! Congratulations to our boys!
Virtual North Texas Champs
We are back in action hosting our 2nd meet at the Bubble this Friday, along with Allen and Jesuit. It will be our first chance of the year for the majority of our varsity athletes to get used to the new championship format of prelims and finals on the same day. Good luck Varsity!
