Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
November 4, 2019

Parents and Guardians,

November is here! If you are like me it is hard to believe we are already this far along in the school year. It seems like just a couple of weeks ago we were doing our Senior Walk and Open House. It is a great reminder that time goes quickly and we should enjoy every moment.

This week our Student Council is leading "Dude. Be Nice Week” here at LHS. The focus is on being kind to each other and to our school community as a whole. There are different activities that have been planned for each day of the week and our hope is to encourage kindness in all our students.

Below you can find important information on upcoming dates and events at LHS.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

With the arrival of colder weather, we have entered the cold and flu season. A stomach virus is on the rise as well. For the health of your child, other students, and school staff, it is important to know when your child should stay home due to illness.

Students should stay home if they have had any of the following symptoms:
• fever of 100 or higher in the past 24 hours
• undetermined rash that is accompanied by fever or itching
• vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• sore throat, with a fever or swollen glands in the neck
• red, draining eyes
• If your child has strep throat or another bacterial infection, he/she should stay home until the antibiotic has been given for at least 24 hours

Senior Projects
The Senior Project is a culminating high school initiative that demonstrates a student’s ability to write, speak, acquire and apply knowledge, solve problems, and apply a variety of skills, including time management and task analysis. It is intended to demonstrate what students know and can do as they prepare to graduate. It prepares them for college and/or the workplace and can help them transform their senior year into one that is uniquely challenging and stimulating. The Senior Project is performance based and adaptable to most topics of interest. We would love to have Junior and Senior parents judging projects this year.
