Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
October 7, 2019

Parents and Guardians,
How about today’s weather! Waking up and needing a jacket this morning was exciting, and it looks like we are finally going to get some temperatures this week that feel more like Fall than Summer.

Please encourage your student to finish strong this final week of the 1st grading period. If you have concerns about their performance in any class, make sure that you and your student continue communicating with those teachers.

Don't forget that this upcoming weekend is a four-day weekend for students and staff. Friday, October 11th and Monday, October 14th are holidays and LHS offices will be closed. Dual Credit students may have class and will need to communicate with their professors to find out specific scheduling information for those days.

Please take a few minutes to review the information and recognitions below.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

Completion of these forms are required every year for every student.

PowerSchool Parent Portal Access Tips
Here are some quick bullets about the PowerSchool Parent Portal:
PowerSchool Parent Portal Access Tips
Here are some quick bullets about the PowerSchool Parent Portal:
  • Unless you have changed your username after August 12, 2019, the username is the email address that is associated to the parent account. The log of invalid logins that we are seeing are typically parent accounts that are trying to use something other than an email address as the username.

  • Recently users have been denied access and it is determined that they are not using the correct URL. Please make sure that you are going to http://powerschool.lovejoyisd.net . If you see Welcome to Unified Classroom, you are on the wrong site. This is another PowerSchool product that we do not have a subscription as it duplicates Google Classroom.

  • Remember that the mobile app is only a tool for updates on assignments, grades, and attendance. Typically to access the Enrollment Forms, Absence Reason Excuses, GPA Information, and the Random Drug Testing Forms you must use a tablet, laptop or desktop and the URL above. From a mobile phone, you can use your browser and go to the URL above; however, once logged in it is difficult to navigate.

New! Student Sign In/Sign Out
This is a reminder to all parents and students that ALL students must sign in and sign out when coming and going from the school during school hours. All student drivers must sign out and back in at the front desk, EVEN IF YOUR PARENT HAS SENT AN EMAIL through student_signout@lovejoyisd.net.
All students who are not drivers must have a parent or authorized person come into the school and sign them out at the front desk before they are allowed to leave campus.

Senior Projects
The Senior Project is a culminating high school initiative that demonstrates a student’s ability to write, speak, acquire and apply knowledge, solve problems, and apply a variety of skills, including time management and task analysis. It is intended to demonstrate what students know and can do as they prepare to graduate. It prepares them for college and/or the workplace and can help them transform their senior year into one that is uniquely challenging and stimulating. The Senior Project is performance based and adaptable to most topics of interest.
