Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
September 23, 2019
Parents and Guardians,
Today may be the first official day of Fall, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. I am hoping the cooler temperatures (and maybe some rain) get here quickly.

Please note that next Wednesday, October 2nd is the first LHS Professional Development day of the school year. All other campuses in the district will have a normal school day for students and staff, but it will be a holiday for LHS students. Administrative staff will be answering phones and available at the front desk if you need anything from the campus on that day.

Please take a few minutes to read the information below to stay informed about important dates and events.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

New! Lovejoy ISD Student Email
Students in grades 9-12 are provided with email access as part of their Google Apps for Education accounts. High School student email accounts are enabled to send and receive emails to internal and external email addresses. The primary reason for supplying students with these tools is to help students better engage, share, and participate collaboratively with each other, with outside experts, and communicate with dual credit course providers. Student email accounts are not considered private and may be accessed by authorized staff to ensure appropriate use.

Using online tools responsibly is an important part of the learning experience. Please take time to discuss with your child the importance of responsible internet and email usage. Lovejoy ISD has filtering enabled to help protect students from inappropriate content.

Thank you for your support as we work to leverage these powerful collaboration tools for 21st-century teaching and learning.

PowerSchool Parent Portal for Student Absences
A new feature has been added to the PowerSchool Parent portal where parents can enter the excuse notes for a student absence. Parents can do multiple students at the same school with one entry. This does not supersede sending and email to student_signout@lovejoyisd.net for student drivers but it does allow parents to skip phone calls and/or parent notes in the case of illness, vacation, etc.

This does not automatically mark the student absent; however, it does alert the attendance clerk to this absences to be approved and changed to the appropriate code. The app does not have this feature; however, parents can log onto the Browser from a phone and have this feature. For Instructions, please click on the links below.
