Lovejoy High School News
A Message from the Principal
September 27, 2021

Parents and Guardians,

In case you hadn’t noticed, we are quickly approaching the halfway point of the fall semester. Next Thursday, October 7th marks the end of the first grading period. It also provides a break for students and staff with holidays on Friday, October 8th and Monday, October 11th.  As you review your student’s current academic progress please encourage them to finish these next two weeks strong and to reach out to their teachers for extra help if they need it.
On Wednesday, October 13th all 9th through 11th graders will be taking the PSAT here at LHS. Since they are not testing, 12th grade students should not report to LHS until 1:00 p.m. When they arrive they should report to the LHS Auditorium for a presentation about ordering items for Seniors from Jostens.
The next few weeks have quite a few important dates and events for our LHS students. Please take a few minutes to review the information below to stay informed.
Have a great week!

Senior Projects

The Senior Project is a culminating high school experience that allows students to demonstrate their abilities to write, speak, acquire and apply knowledge, solve problems, and apply a variety of skills, including time management and task analysis. It is intended to demonstrate what students know and can do as they prepare to graduate. The Senior Project prepares students for college and/or the workplace, and it can help them transform the senior year into one that is uniquely challenging and stimulating. The Senior Project is performance based and adaptable to most topics of interest.
We would love to have Junior and Senior parents judging projects this year.

Foundation for Lovejoy Schools
We’re excited to kick off our Annual Appeal campaign!

Our goal is to raise $300,000 and have 35% community involvement. The students of Lovejoy ISD are touched by Foundation dollars in every school and grade throughout the district. Now, more than ever, they need our support to ensure no interruption to the Lovejoy standard of exceptional learning. Visit our website today to learn more and donate!
Please help us congratulate your students on a strong showing this past weekend at the Golden Triangle Classic!!
The band was a strong competitor in a group of 17 total band programs. First, the group made the cut of the top 10 to gain a spot in finals along with tying for first place in the music caption and 2nd place in the percussion caption after our first round of performances. As sometimes happens as judges switch captions for finals, we dropped from 3rd overall to 4th in finals by a hair, but we saw our colorguard move up to the second place rank...go guard!

The first students every year that start the All State process for the band program are the Jazz Ensemble members. Right in the middle of marching season, these students have to be at the top of their game on their TMEA Jazz Etudes.
Congrats to all of our Jazz Ensemble members that auditioned for All Region Jazz last night!! The following earned a spot in the group or were named an alternate.
Davis Miller- Bari Sax, First chair and moves onto Area!
Jonah Vuong- Trumpet
Reid Robinson-Trumpet
Dom Mauriello-Trombone, First chair and moves onto Area!
Mason Muller- Bass Trombone
Talon Seidel- Bass
John Hanchey- Drums, First chair and moves onto Area!
Aliyah Book- Alto Sax, Alternate
Adrian Phan- Tenor Sax, Alternate
