A Message from the Principal
September 30, 2019
Parents and Guardians,

This Wednesday, October 2nd is the first LHS Professional Development day of the school year. All other campuses in the district will have a normal school day for students and staff, but it will be a holiday for LHS students. Administrative staff will be answering phones and available at the front desk if you need anything from the campus on that day.
Also, next Thursday, October 10th marks the end of the first grading period.   As you review your student’s current academic progress please encourage them to finish the next two weeks strong and to reach out to their teachers for extra help if they need it.

The next few weeks have quite a few important dates and events for our LHS students including several student holidays, PSAT test, and Homecoming activities. Please take a few minutes to review the information  below to stay informed.
Have a great week!

New! Senior Projects
The Senior Project is a culminating high school initiative that demonstrates a student’s ability to write, speak, acquire and apply knowledge, solve problems, and apply a variety of skills, including time management and task analysis. It is intended to demonstrate what students know and can do as they prepare to graduate. It prepares them for college and/or the workplace and can help them transform their senior year into one that is uniquely challenging and stimulating. The Senior Project is performance based and adaptable to most topics of interest.
We would love to have Junior and Senior parents judging projects this year.

Lovejoy ISD Student Email
Students in grades 9-12 are provided with email access as part of their Google Apps for Education accounts. High School student email accounts are enabled to send and receive emails to internal and external email addresses. The primary reason for supplying students with these tools is to help students better engage, share, and participate collaboratively with each other, with outside experts, and communicate with dual credit course providers. Student email accounts are not considered private and may be accessed by authorized staff to ensure appropriate use.

Using online tools responsibly is an important part of the learning experience. Please take time to discuss with your child the importance of responsible internet and email usage. Lovejoy ISD has filtering enabled to help protect students from inappropriate content.

Thank you for your support as we work to leverage these powerful collaboration tools for 21st-century teaching and learning.
