📌 Plan Ahead for Lovettsville Oktoberfest: Road Closures, Parking & Shuttle Information
The 30th Lovettsville Oktoberfest is coming to the heart of downtown Lovettsville on Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. With visitors expected throughout the day, residents and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for temporary road closures, parking restrictions, and traffic detours.
Road Closures – Saturday, September 26
To accommodate the festival, streets surrounding Zoldos Square/the "Squirkle" will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning at 6:00 a.m. Additionally, South Church Street and East Pennsylvania Avenue to South Locust Street will be closed. Berlin Turnpike will be closed beginning at Hammond Drive, with traffic detoured around the festival area.
Hammond Drive will remain accessible and will serve as part of the Oktoberfest traffic detour, along with Spring Farm Drive. Motorists should expect a continuous two-way flow of northbound and southbound traffic along Hammond Drive and Spring Farm Drive.
To keep the detour route clear and safe, no street parking will be permitted on either side of Hammond Drive and Spring Farm Drive, beginning the morning of Friday, September 25, through 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26. Residents and visitors are asked to remove vehicles from these roadways and make alternate parking arrangements in advance.
The parking lot behind Town Square Shopping Center will remain accessible via Town Center Drive and West Broad Way during the festival.
Town Hall Parking Lot Closure
The Samuel A. Finz Municipal Complex/Town Hall parking lot will be closed to the public from Wednesday, September 23, through Monday, September 28, to accommodate Lovettsville Oktoberfest setup, event operations, and cleanup. Please make alternate parking arrangements during this period.
Free Event Parking & Shuttle Service
Oktoberfest attendees are encouraged to take advantage of event parking at Lovettsville Community Park and the convenient shuttle service provided throughout the day.
Shuttles will operate continuously from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The primary shuttle pickup location at Lovettsville Community Park will be in the sports fields gravel parking lot near the flag poles and restrooms. Shuttles will transport attendees directly to the festival, with the Lovettsville Oktoberfest shuttle stop located near Kinderfest.
For guests returning to the park, an additional drop-off-only location will be available at the bottom of the Dog Park entrance. This location will not serve as a shuttle pickup point.
Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow all posted traffic and parking signage throughout the day.

The celebration will continue during Lovettsville Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 26! Our Distinguished Residents will be honored at the Lovettsville Elementary School PTO Pancake Breakfast, held from 8:00–10:00 a.m., with the special recognition beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Grab some breakfast, celebrate some truly special Lovettsville residents, and then head into town for the 30th Annual Lovettsville Oktoberfest!

📌 Significant Traffic Pattern Change to Route 9/Route 287 Intersection to Begin Sept. 17
Motorists are advised that a significant traffic pattern change will begin Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 287 in Loudoun County for the construction of intersection improvements. The new traffic pattern will require motorists to navigate the intersection as a roundabout.
Route 9 eastbound and westbound traffic and Route 287 northbound and southbound traffic will shift into a roundabout traffic pattern.
The existing traffic signal will be taken out of operation and motorists will navigate a single lane traffic circle.
Area residents may hear intermittent loud noises and vibrations due to ongoing construction operations.
Construction crews will continue to work within and adjacent to these areas until the roundabout is completed. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the intersection.
This roundabout configuration will remain in place until project completion, currently estimated for winter (Jan/Feb/Mar) 2027.
🦺 Stay Alert
Drivers are advised to use caution when navigating through this area and to adhere to all posted construction signage and instructions. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists and safely manage traffic flow through the roundabout. Use extra caution when walking, biking or driving near the site.
Construction areas will be clearly marked. For your safety, please do not enter the construction site or attempt to cross any construction fencing or barriers. Any significant traffic impacts or changes in access will be communicated by the county in advance, when possible, through project updates.
🦺 About the Project
This project consists of a new roundabout at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 287 with widened roadway approaches. When complete, the project will significantly reduce existing traffic congestion, improve safety and provide a long-term, cost-effective solution for future roadway operation and maintenance.

📌 Honoring Patriot Day
Twenty-five years ago, on September 11th, life for every American changed. On Friday, the Lovettsville community gathered to pay tribute to those that rose to the occasion on that day and remember those who were lost to this act of terrorism. Represented by the 2,977 flags placed by the community on Tuesday, September 8th, the Town of Lovettsville will NEVER FORGET the lives lost on that day. The Lovettsville Veterans' Memorial is one of the most iconic, beautiful, and reverent parts of our Town. It was dedicated to honor those who have served our country, regardless of where they live, and where they come from. The deadline to honor a Veteran by purchasing an engraved paver for dedication at this year's ceremony is Thursday, October 1st. All pavers submitted by October 1st will be installed and dedicated at this year's Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11th, 2026. 👉 While there is not a mandatory conservation in place for the Lovettsville area at this time, we are asking all residents to please use water wisely. Examples include running your washing machine and dishwasher only when full, taking shorter showers, refraining from washing cars and watering lawns, and as always, to resolve any ongoing water leaks.

📌 Upcoming Projects:
Town Center Well Rehabilitation: The Town’s Utility Department completed the comprehensive rehabilitation of one of the Town’s four wells, referred to as Town Center Well, that is located on the Town Green behind the Walker Pavilion. The rehabilitation comprised of the replacement of a 20+ year pump, replacement of aged steel return pipes, an acid treatment and brushing of the well, all of which were preventive maintenance measures to ensure longevity and improved running levels of the well. Due to the equipment required to complete the rehabilitation, the large vegetation surrounding the well site was permanently removed. The rehabilitation is now complete, and the remaining replacement of fencing and landscaping plans will be completed shortly. Please be mindful of the work area and keep away from items blocked off by cones and orange safety fence.
Administrative Building Renovation: On August 6th, construction commenced at the Administrative Building of the Sam A. Finz Municipal Complex to relocate the existing kitchenette to create a new office space for Town staff. Final construction is awaiting materials and final permitting. | | Discover Lovettsville, VA |

Donations can be dropped off at New Jerusalem Lutheran, on the white bench, or at Town Hall Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
