Posted April 1st 2019
This email is for the folks who have signed up for notices about the Low Light Photo Group
The next meeting is @ 6:30 PM, May 16th
Thank you to everyone who came to the last meeting. We had a few new faces and it was pleasure to meet you all.

I'll be doing a software demo with Luminar 3 and Aurora HDR 2019 and how those fit into my workflow for editing photos.

The photo theme for this meeting is "Looking for the Dark in all the Light places". Bring up to 5 jpg images on a thumb drive or memory card. Please have only those images on the device or in a folder that has only those images.
Photos from the Fire & Light Class
Thank you to everyone who came out! Special thanks to Kat Fodor and David Frayer for guiding us through the steps. You can see some of the results from the class on MeetUp and the Low Light Photo Group on Facebook.
The Next Milky Way Excursion
Saturday, April 6th @ 4 AM
This field trip is dependent on weather.

Photographing the Milky Way isn't as tough as it seems. It just requires the right equipment and patience. Foto Dono will be hosting a field trip to Caspersen Beach to photograph the Milky Way. Trying to photograph at that location does have it's challenges, mainly because of light pollution. However most of the shooting will be at the beach. The beach is kept in relative darkness because of the sea turtles that nest there.

The main goal for the field trip is to provide an experience in creating a single shot exposure or multiple exposures for stacking of the night sky. These images will then need to be rendered in post with Lightroom, Photoshop or other editing software.

When: Saturday Morning from 4am to 6am, April 6th.

Where: The address is 4100 Harbor Dr, Venice, FL 34285, We will meet in the parking lot next to the restroom.

Driving Directions - From 175 take exit 193, Jacaranda Rd. When you reach the roundabout take the first right onto Venice Ave. Take that all the the way to Harbor Drive S and make a left. Take it all the way to where it dead ends. That's the parking lot where we will meet.

You should arrive around 4 AM

Weather - This event is dependent on the weather. Clouds and rain make very poor visibility of the night sky. I’ll make a final decision to shoot or not shoot about 24 hours before I head out.

Timeline for Saturday Morning:

1:21 AM Galactic Center visibility starts
4:00 AM Arrive
5:56 AM Galactic Center visibility ends
7:15 AM Sunrise

Dono should be there by 3:45 AM.

Equipment - D-SLR camera or Mirrorless System. Bring your widest angle lens with a 2.8 f/stop or faster. You'll need a very sturdy tripod and a remote switch for your camera. Keep in mind this is depending on weather. So come prepared; bring a flashlight and bug spray!

Fee: You can pay online via Eventbrite. You can also pay at the store, or the morning of the shoot.

Refunds - If the event is cancelled then a refund will be issued. However, there are no refunds if the Milky Way isn't visible due to cloud cover. This is a low light field trip with an opportunity to photograph the Milky Way.
