Introducing the new Downtown Identity!

Created and inspired by Johnstown community input, the Downtown Identity brand encompasses a location - the heart of our community - where local grows.

The Downtown Identity project has been in the works for just about a year now and we finally have a brand! After iterations of brands and months of collecting feedback from the Johnstown community and major community stakeholders, the Downtown Brand has been established. Creative in color and featuring local icons, the downtown brand continues to call the heart of our community “Downtown Johnstown” and is accompanied by the motto “Local grows here.”

The final brand also includes the new tagline “Local Grows Here,” with the option of adding different qualifiers like local business, connections, history, creativity, family, community, etc. to specifically identify the things the community would like to grow in the historic downtown district. The “Local Grows Here” tagline embraces the reality of community growth in a positive way highlighting and empowering what is local and unique about our historic downtown while also hitting on the historical heritage of our Town as an agricultural - growing - community.

Charlotte Street Updates

The work on Charlotte Street continues throughout May, with impacts to through traffic and pedestrian traffic. During this construction, area residents are reminded to put their garbage/recycling totes out as close to their regular space as possible, and the contractor will move the totes or provide space for the waste service provider to access them. For those who are looking for more timely, weekly updates to this project and ongoing work, please visit johnstownco.gov/CharlotteSt2023. The Town is now issuing a weekly Monday update of the project, as well as a tentative 3 week outlook for residents.

Upcoming Summer Maintenance Programs

Every spring into fall residents will see crews dedicated to the following programs. Please be aware that these programs are occurring, slow down for the cone zone, and be understanding of any crews in the public right of way working to make your Johnstown experience better!

Town Mosquito Mitigation with VDCI - the Town’s mosquito mitigation contractor is Vector Disease Control International. VDCI serves a number of local municipalities including Johnstown and normally begins mosquito trap surveillance in May with fogging (when necessary) beginning in June. You can find more information at johnstownco.gov/CIProjects.

Street Cleaning/Sweeping - With the snow melted away and green returning to the trees, Town Public Works will be out and about during the summer street sweeping. They will make their way across Town to clean up roads. Please keep an eye out for any new signage indicating brief parking restrictions for the purpose of street cleaning, notably along Parish Ave south of Hwy 60.

Pavement Management- While Town Public Works does pavement management year round, with better weather, crews can begin working on specific roads in accordance with the Town’s pavement management plan. Please drive with caution if you see crews in the road.

Hydrant Flushing - Town Utilities will be out in May and October this year conducting hydrant flushing. This bi-annual service is important because it increases water quality and ensures that hydrants are operating properly for fire response.
