We hope you all had a fun and SAFE Halloween. Thank you to all the families who participated in the Halloween Passport event. And a big thanks to Sabrina Savarin, Andrea Morrison, Natalie Ward, Clyde the Beaver and the Halloween Task Force for making this happen.
With our first full month of school behind us, we have a great deal to look forward to.
In a normal year, we'd now be counting laps and pledges from our annual Move-A-Thon! As one of our our two biggest fundraisers, this amazing event typically raised about $50,000 each year for the PTA. While we pivot to come up with new COVID-friendly ways to strengthen our community and raise money, we ask for your support by making a direct donation to Loyal Heights. Below, we introduce our first ever Loyal Heights Direct Give Drive. Together, with your support, we can make a real difference in your child’s education.
With sincere gratitude,
Katrina & Stephanie
LH PTA Co-Presidents
Each year the Loyal Heights PTA raises funds to ensure our students and staff have the tools and support they need to succeed and thrive. Whether it’s directed to our counseling program, tutoring, library books or equity initiatives, our PTA funding reaches each and every student. Now more than ever, we are all seeing firsthand the challenges that our students, teachers and school face.
After revising our expenses and collaborating with the LHE administrative team to prioritize essentials, it is our goal this school year to raise $104,840 — or $224 per student. We understand that this is a large ask during a challenging time. Any amount you can give is much appreciated. Donating is easy and 100% tax deductible.
Please consider participating in the Loyal Heights Direct Give Drive from November 1-30, 2020 to help keep our school community strong and thriving through this unique time in history.
The first 300 donors over $50 will receive a Loyal Heights face mask! Thank you for your generosity.

Please make sure to have a current volunteer application on file if you are looking to volunteer directly in your child's class (including the virtual classroom as breakout room facilitator or tutor).
All volunteers will need to create a new application by following this link.
For Category A Volunteering, if you have lived in WA for the past 3 years, your background check is free. If you are new to our state or country, there's a $21 fee for a National Background Check from Sterling Volunteers. Examples of Category A Volunteering: all school and remote volunteer roles that support the school, staff or families; can include direct student contact if the volunteer is supervised. District personnel must be on site and within view if the volunteer will interact with students. Alternatively, another adult approved SPS volunteer must participate in the activity and be present at all times.
For Category B Volunteering, a National Background Check from Sterling Volunteers must be purchased at a cost of $21.00. Examples of Category B Volunteering: all school and remote volunteer roles that involve unsupervised contact with students, such as a math club coach, breakout room facilitator (in a virtual classroom), one-on-one tutor (including remote/virtual), or mentor.
The PTA will sponsor cost of background check for the first 20 people to sign up. Contact Mr. Steve in the office for reimbursement or for more information.
Thanks to all the new Room Parents and families who hosted, donated, and participated in the family led Halloween event! Special shout out to our Clyde the Beaver (and Kinder parent), Julian Yaeger.
We have several volunteer needs and would love your help! Here's what we are looking for:
Fridays: 7:45-8:15am & 3:15-3:45pm
We are looking for 2-4 volunteers to help move materials being sent home from inside the main entrance to designated spots by grade level outside. Carts are available. We aim to start this week. Please contact Steve to help.
Procurement chair
We are looking for someone to manage the procurement committee. The Procurement Chair writes templates for communication with potential donors, and assigns donation asks from a list of past donors. They also work with the auction chair to brainstorm live auction items, and coordinate with Data Management Leads to inventory and track donation commitments and incoming procured items. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you're interested.
