Now that this election is behind us, we can focus on what’s next for our country, community and our kids. Look for opportunities to unite with loved ones. Listen and learn. Our kids are watching. Keep them engaged and show them that, together, we can accomplish hard things.
Together, we've raised nearly $10,000 the first week of our Direct Give Drive. (Nice work!) These funds pay for important things like our counseling program, tutoring, teacher materials, technology and family support. Donating is easy and any amount is appreciated.
With sincere gratitude,
Katrina & Stephanie

New materials pick up system! On Fridays the front doors are unlocked from 8:30-3:30pm and all the materials are in the vestibule, separated by grade.
Giving Hands
It’s that time of year again for our Giving Hands event. The Giving Hands program is a way for families in need to create a wish list for the Holidays. We invite all of you to stop by the school on Friday, November 20th to pick up a mitten with a wish from someone in our Loyal Heights community.
If you would like to be a recipient family, or want more information, please contact Kathy Katzen. All information is kept confidential. More information to follow about the November 20th event.
Updates from the Library
NEW Library Pick-Up schedule: Wednesdays 1:00-1:40pm outside the Library Exit (this is a time adjustment) and Fridays 8:30am-4:00pm in the Main Office Vestibule (Self-Serve only).
Please make sure to have a current volunteer application on file if you are looking to volunteer directly in your child's class (including the virtual classroom as breakout room facilitator or tutor).
All volunteers will need to create a new application by following this link.
For Category A Volunteering, if you have lived in WA for the past 3 years, your background check is free. If you are new to our state or country, there's a $21 fee for a National Background Check from Sterling Volunteers. Examples of Category A Volunteering: all school and remote volunteer roles that support the school, staff or families; can include direct student contact if the volunteer is supervised. District personnel must be on site and within view if the volunteer will interact with students. Alternatively, another adult approved SPS volunteer must participate in the activity and be present at all times.
For Category B Volunteering, a National Background Check from Sterling Volunteers must be purchased at a cost of $21.00. Examples of Category B Volunteering: all school and remote volunteer roles that involve unsupervised contact with students, such as a math club coach, breakout room facilitator (in a virtual classroom), one-on-one tutor (including remote/virtual), or mentor.
The PTA will sponsor cost of background check for the first 20 people to sign up. Contact Mr. Steve in the office for reimbursement or for more information.
We have several volunteer needs and would love your help! Here's what we are looking for:
Procurement chair
We are looking for someone to manage the procurement committee. The Procurement Chair writes templates for communication with potential donors, and assigns donation asks from a list of past donors. They also work with the auction chair to brainstorm live auction items, and coordinate with Data Management Leads to inventory and track donation commitments and incoming procured items. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you're interested.
Fundraising Help!
Do you have interest or experience with fundraising? Help Loyal Heights as we plan new ways to raise funds, including a direct drive campaign.
SPS Tech Support
SPS is looking for tech-savvy family or community volunteers to help support students and teachers during and in-between classes. Click here to see where the need is greatest, and contact the volunteer coordinators to help. Also needed are people to volunteer in person at one of eight Technology Resource Centers.
If you would like to be added to our volunteer database, fill out this form to indicate your areas of interest, and you will be contacted as needs arise.
