In light of the increase in anti-Asian hate crimes this past year and the horrific murders in Atlanta this past week, let us stand up as a community against anti-Asian racism and attacks. No matter where it occurs, racist violence and harassment harms our entire community. But we are not powerless against this and we must not be silent! We can learn about the history of such racism and pay attention to what is happening today. We can make space and listen to the experiences and concerns of people of Asian ancestry. We can empower ourselves to be allies and upstanders if we witness such hate.
Let’s get moving! There's still time to get those pledges in! We are at almost $12,000 with 14% participation and would love to continue to grow those numbers. Head to the fundraising page to search for your child's name, and send your unique link to friends and family. If you haven't yet picked up your child's t-shirt, they are still available in the school lobby.
Saturday March 27: Fun Hair Day & Move-A-Thon Shirt Day!
TAG's Aristocats is premiering in April!
Coming soon there will be options to purchase viewing tickets and fun viewing baskets to enjoy during the event. We're looking forward to spending a virtual evening of magic with the LHE community.
Watch the Student Equity Panel
Last month our PTA, Parent Equity Group, and Theater Arts Group (TAG) hosted a listen-and-learn event where students of color who grew up attending predominantly white schools shared their experiences with our school community. The students provided valuable insight on how we can make our school community even more equitable and inclusive for all. If you were unable to attend the live event, we encourage you to spend some time listening to the wisdom, passion, and authenticity of these student voices. You can watch the video recording here.
Please note that for security purposes the video is only viewable within the Seattle Public Schools network; this means you will need to be logged into a Seattle Schools account in order to view it.
Contribute to the LHE Multicultural Cookbook
Every winter, LHE hosts a beloved multicultural night to celebrate the many cultural identities, experiences, and nationalities represented within the our community. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to host the event in person this year, but we want to continue the tradition by creating a Multicultural Cookbook.
Food tells an important story about who we are, and we invite you to share a recipe of personal significance to your family. Your recipe could connect to your cultural heritage, family history, nationality, or regional experience in the U.S. Please complete this google form to share your recipe. A free PDF version will be available to everyone and a limited number of printed copies will be available for purchase as a fundraiser for the LHE PTA.
The first 10 to submit a recipe will receive a FREE printed cookbook!
