Lucky Village Reopens With a Fresh Look

A longtime Westchase District dining favorite is serving customers again with a dramatically new look. Lucky Village Chinese Buffet, located at 10755 Westheimer Road, has reopened following an extensive renovation that transformed the 12,800-square-foot restaurant.

The redesigned interior features fan-shaped ceiling coves, cascading crystal pendant lights, a hand-painted chinoiserie mural and an updated second dining room with floor-to-ceiling glass, leather seating, and a contemporary black ceiling.

Houston-based Tinggi Design led the redesign, working with Golden Town Materials on many of the restaurant’s new features. While the surroundings have changed, Lucky Village remains true to the all-you-can-eat experience that has made it a Westchase staple for more than 20 years. The restaurant offers more than 100 rotating selections, including seafood, sushi, traditional Chinese dishes, soups, appetizers, and wok-prepared favorites.

The restaurant officially welcomed diners back on August 21, adding another refreshed destination to Westchase District’s thriving dining and retail scene. Since its reopening, the packed parking lot says it all - diners couldn't wait to feast again at Lucky Village.

Fayman Group Quietly Feeds Some of America’s Best-Known Restaurants, Brands, and Retailers

Packaged meat is stacked high inside Fayman Food Group’s expansive Westchase cold-storage facility at 3350 Rogerdale Road.

You may not know the Fayman Food Group name, but you almost certainly know some of the places its products end up, and there's a good chance you've enjoyed its beef in a burger. Operating from its Westchase District facility, Fayman is one of those little-known businesses supplying some very well-known restaurants, brands, and retailers, including Jack Link’s, Burger King, Costco, and McDonald's. Its scale in Westchase might be even more surprising as a major beef distribution center for the U.S. market. Fayman currently employs about 250 people here and plans to add more than 100 positions during the next 12 months. The company is also investing significantly in its Westchase property, renovating existing space, constructing a new building and roadway, and upgrading utilities and infrastructure to accommodate future growth. Its facility at 3350 Rogerdale Road boasts a retail store for customers who need smaller quantities, selling many of the same quality meat products without requiring a large commercial order. (Deal alert: Reference this article to receive a 10% discount on high-quality ribeye, NY strip steaks, briskets, skirt steaks, and more).

Rich Tompkins, chief operating officer of Fayman Food Group, tells us more about the company, its operations, and what’s ahead.

How did Fayman Food Group get started?

We saw an opportunity to deliver better value to the American consumer. Our founders came out of beef production and cold storage, with established relationships on both the supply and customer side. We built the company around that advantage, optimizing the supply chain to put the best product on the table at the most competitive price.

What drew you to Westchase District specifically?

It’s a great location both professionally and personally. We’re close to the Port of Houston and to the major interstates, which matters for how we move product. And it’s an area people actually want to work in, with strong neighborhoods nearby, which helps us recruit and keep good people.

What makes your products different?

Consistent supply, consistent quality, competitive price. Because we source domestically and internationally, we can optimize that combination for each customer rather than being locked into one market’s pricing or availability.

Who are your largest customers?

We supply foodservice distributors, retailers and grocers nationally, along with branded programs in ground beef, jerky, hot dogs, sausage, and steaks.

You have an interesting tenant mix here, including Weee! and a fire suppression company. What led to that?

It was opportunistic. Both were drawn to the site for the same reasons we were: location, access, and infrastructure. It’s worked out well, and we’ve been able to operate symbiotically, especially through the new construction on site, including buildings, roads, and added utility capacity to benefit everyone here.

How large is the volume of product moving through your operation?

This site supports an operation producing over one million pounds of beef products a day for the U.S. market.

Tell us about the investments you’re making here.

Significant capex across several fronts: renovating the existing space, building a new road to improve traffic flow on site, constructing a new building to support growth, and upgrading utilities and other infrastructure to support our growing operations. The company has invested $5 million to date, with another $50 million expected for two phases, and 80,000 square feet being added to our current 200,000 square feet.

Rich Tompkins, Chief Operating Officer of Fayman Group, gives a tour of the company’s expansion space.

This Fall, Head to Camden Park for Live Music — and Don't Miss Woodchase Park Too

As Houston temperatures begin to ease, fall is a great time to enjoy Westchase District’s parks. Whether you’re looking for an evening of live entertainment, a place for the kids to play or an outdoor workout, Camden Park and Woodchase Park have plenty of reasons to get outside. So when cooler fall days arrive, grab the family, meet up with friends, or simply find a spot outside and enjoy the season in Westchase. Family-fun activities give visitors even more reason to head to the parks this fall.

Fall Programs at Camden Park, Plus Calling All Birders

At Camden Park, Friday evenings take center stage with the Live Music Series presented by H-E-B. Local performers take the pavilion stage each Friday at 6 p.m., giving visitors a chance to unwind at the end of the week while enjoying the park’s activity lawn and other amenities. The fall lineup runs into November. And the music is only part of Camden Park’s fall calendar. Free programming ranges from Zumba, Samba and the Run and Walk Club to children’s bingo, storytime, ballet, chess, and Young Audiences of Houston workshops. The park’s diverse programming continues with special events throughout fall, including Birds Houston, which celebrates a fantastic mix of the region’s feathered friends on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Fall Programs at Woodchase Park, And a Night Made for Community

Nearby Woodchase Park has its own packed schedule, with pop-up soccer, children’s bingo, Zumba, Samba, and Sunday workshops from Young Audiences of Houston. Families can also enjoy the playground, activity lawn, dog park and Imagination Playground throughout the season. Programming at both parks is always free, and the fun continues next month when National Night Out takes over Woodchase Park on Tuesday, Oct. 6, bringing neighbors together for an evening centered on community and public safety. Activities include a face painter, bounce house, food trucks, games, live DJ, and high-water rescue vehicle on display.

A Taste of Yemen Morning Brew Arrives in Westchase with Arwa Yemeni Coffee

Westchase District’s coffee scene has a new international flavor. Next door to Kasra Persian Grill, Arwa Yemeni Coffee has opened at 9719 Westheimer Road, bringing the centuries-old traditions of Yemeni coffee to the District.

Founded in Richardson, Texas, in 2022, Arwa was created to introduce customers to Yemen’s rich coffee culture and hospitality. The company sources high-quality beans from farms in Yemen’s mountainous Haraz region, where coffee is naturally processed and sun-dried.

The menu mixes traditional Yemeni flavors with contemporary coffeehouse favorites. Guests can try drinks such as Adeni tea, Jubani coffee and Yemeni lattes, along with specialty lattes, matcha, refreshers, and desserts. Arwa’s Yemeni latte, for example, combines familiar café appeal with the spices and flavors associated with Yemeni coffee.

The Westheimer café also marks an important step in Arwa’s Houston-area expansion. The company opened its first area location earlier this year in Richmond, while plans for the 9719 Westheimer location followed. With an inviting, contemporary interior designed as much for gathering as grabbing a cup to go, Arwa adds another distinctive dining and beverage concept to Westchase District - and gives coffee drinkers an opportunity to experience a tradition that helped shape coffee culture around the world.

Modern Single-Family Living Coming to Westchase

Westchase District is known for its office towers, apartments, retail centers, and amenities. Now, a new development is adding something relatively rare to that mix: single-family homes. Currently under construction at 2939 Woodland Park Drive, the new community from Stoneworks Building Group will feature 48 single-family homes, making it one of the first new single-family home communities developed within the District.

"This development is yet another example of how Westchase is evolving and drawing confidence among builders and multifamily developers," said Irma Sanchez, Westchase District CEO. "There are more coming especially in the mixed-use space that are exciting projects."

The community will offer two- and three-story homes, each with three bedrooms and approximately 2,116 to 2,288 square feet of living space. The homes will also include garages and individual lots. Site work is already underway. A recent visit to the property showed large sections of underground drainage pipe staged for installation, an early sign of the infrastructure work needed to prepare the site for residential construction. Its location puts future homeowners close to many of the amenities that make Westchase attractive. Camden Park and the Robinson-Westchase Neighborhood Library are about six-tenths of a mile away, while Trader Joe’s, H-E-B, Houston City College and Westheimer Road shopping and dining are also nearby.

The project represents another evolution in Westchase’s development story. Adding for-sale single-family housing creates a new opportunity for people not only to work, shop, and enjoy amenities in the District, but also to establish roots and own a home here.

"For a District increasingly focused on creating a complete community, 2939 Woodland Park introduces an important new dimension: homeownership in Westchase," said Sanchez.

HRSS CPAs Leases Full Floor at Millennium Tower for Relocation to Westchase

HRSS CPAs has signed a long-term lease for approximately 19,569 square feet at Millennium Tower, 10375 Richmond Avenue, making it the latest company looking for high-quality office and deciding on Westchase as a strategic location.

The Houston-based accounting firm will occupy an entire floor of the 21-story, 362,849-square-foot Class A office tower. HRSS, which has been in business for 40 years, is relocating from 6671 Southwest Freeway and expects to make its move during the fourth quarter of 2026. The relocation comes as HRSS continues to grow. Managing Partner Sabeen Pirzada said the new office represents an investment in the firm's future, providing a workplace designed to encourage collaboration and support continued expansion.

Millennium Tower offers HRSS a furnished full-floor workplace along with an executive conference center, tenant lounge, fitness center, covered parking, 24-hour security and on-site property management. With convenient access to BW8 and other major transportation corridors, the building has also undergone renovations to its lobby and common areas.

HRSS's lease is another positive sign for Westchase's office market, demonstrating the District's continued ability to draw established Houston companies seeking quality office space, accessibility, and amenities as they plan for future growth. Stream Realty Partners Managing Director/Vice Chairman Lucian Bukowski and Senior Associate Kylee Antweil represented HRSS in the transaction, while JP Hutcheson of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, Millennium Tower LLC.

Guatemalan Consulate Celebrates Country's Independence Day

The Consulate General of Guatemala in Houston recently celebrated Guatemala’s Independence Day at its Westchase location, bringing together community members, families and guests for an event filled with culture, tradition and national pride.

The celebration featured traditional music, dance and colorful costumes, with young performers helping showcase the customs and heritage connecting Houston’s Guatemalan community to its homeland. The festivities marked the 205th anniversary of Guatemala’s independence, commemorated each year on Sept. 15. Guests also enjoyed a taste of Guatemala, including flautas and Guatemalan cuisine treats such as chuchitos, small corn-masa tamales traditionally filled with meat and recado; tostadas topped with ingredients such as beans, guacamole or salsa; and rellenitos, a sweet treat made from ripe plantains filled with black beans and fried.

The celebration drew recognition from across local government. Representatives from Harris County Precinct 4, Harris County Precinct 2, and the City of Houston paid tribute to Guatemala's 205th anniversary of independence by presenting proclamations recognizing the occasion, including a presentation to Consul General Nivia Rosemary Arauz Monzón from Gigi Lee, who leads the Mayor's Office of Trade and International Affairs.

The gathering also highlighted the international presence found within the District. The Consulate General serves as an important connection for Guatemalans living throughout the region, providing consular services while promoting the country's culture and heritage. For Westchase, the Independence Day celebration offered another example of the cultures and traditions represented by the people and organizations that call the District home.
