Lucky Kids!
Since outdoor kids are happier kids and build their confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills, kids who visit Lake Tahoe for overnight science camps with us are extra-lucky. For some it's their first time to see Tahoe; for most it's their first chance to hike in the forest and stay in a cabin or tipi.

Teachers, o ur spring science camps are practically full, and believe it or not, it's already time to
reserve dates for fall overnight and day trips NOW .
or 775-324-0936 to start your school year with STEM-based activities you can build on for the rest of the year.

Outdoor Enthusiasts, give yourself more space in your closet or garage and give your used outdoor clothing and gear new life by donating it to be sold to benefit Great Basin Outdoor School at Gear Hut. It's a family-owned Reno shop at 1245 S. Wells that raised over $1000 to help us get kids outdoors last year by friends like you donating. Jump start your spring cleaning, and chances are you'll get lucky and find something special for yourself there too. It's open Wed.-Sun. from noon-7:00 pm.

Science Corner: We're Lucky to have Women Scientists
It's Women's History Month, so let's celebrate the contributions of our women scientists and send more girls into STEM careers. Listen to women tell the stories of their own women science heroes here , and watch a short video of women in science here . This Science Focus article has photos and stories of amazing women scientists throughout history, and Wikipedia shares a wealth of information and links. We are proud of the extensive science backgrounds of our Great Basin Outdoor School young women educators and of the role models they provide for our students.
See more on our website   which is currently getting a facelift from our talented UNR intern Amber Dawn Seifert.
