Volunteer Spotlight: Why Sarah Snead keeps showing up for seniors

In many ways, Sarah Snead’s commitment to older adults has shaped nearly every chapter of her life. 

The immediate past chair of the Lucy Corr Foundation, Snead spent more than three decades serving Chesterfield County seniors as a social services provider. But beyond professional duty, care for seniors has been integral to her personal life: She was the primary caregiver for her mother and now does the same for her husband. Yet she still makes time to serve on the boards of three organizations serving seniors in the greater Richmond area.

In April, Hanover County recognized that dedication with its Spirit of Wisdom Award, presented at the county’s Spirit of Volunteerism celebration.

Plant Operations Supervisor Jeremy Armstrong named latest Ceca Award recipient

‘It's really nice to know that people see what we do.’

Ask Jeremy Armstrong about the Ceca Award he received earlier this spring, and he’ll steer the conversation back to his team almost immediately. That humility is, in part, what earned Lucy Corr’s plant operations supervisor the recognition in the first place.

Through its participation in the national Ceca Award program, Lucy Corr honors clinical and non-clinical team members whose everyday work reflects the organization’s values of care, compassion and kindness. Jeremy’s recognition came through community nominations that highlighted his reliability and team-first mindset.

Lucy Corr Foundation 5K and 1-mile Fun Run draws crowd for community cause

More than 100 runners, walkers and families turned out Saturday, June 27, for the Lucy Corr Foundation Family Fun Run/Walk, a morning of movement, music and community spirit on the Lucy Corr campus.

Participants chose between a 5K run/walk — four laps around the Lucy Corr grounds — and a 1-mile fun run/walk that welcomed all ages and abilities, from seasoned runners to residents accompanied in wheelchairs to families pushing strollers.

Skills Fair brings learning, teamwork together across Lucy Corr

A little friendly competition helped reinforce a serious mission last week as Lucy Corr transformed its biannual Skills Fair into a carnival-inspired learning experience for team members across the organization.

Departments rotated through interactive stations covering everything from infection prevention and resident rights to falls, nutrition, emergency preparedness and quality improvement. The event encouraged staff to strengthen their knowledge, share best practices and collaborate across departments, all with one goal in mind: providing the highest quality care for the residents who call Lucy Corr home.
