Rain can’t dampen the Lucy Corr Care Fair & Birthday Bash | | |
Rain rolled in partway through the Lucy Corr Care Fair & Birthday Bash on Saturday, Oct. 3, but it didn’t send anyone home. Dozens of attendees — including Lucy Corr residents, families, board members and neighbors — spent the afternoon on campus, where this year’s Care Fair doubled as a celebration of Miss Lucy Corr's birthday.
“Miss Lucy’s values were compassion, care and kindness, and we do demonstrate those values daily here at Lucy Corr,” said Lucy Corr CEO Michael Cunningham. “We’re not going to let rain bother us. Everybody’s smiling, happy to be here."
Thank you to all who attended and helped organize a successful 2026 Care Fair!

Caring for caregivers:
How Dr. Rodney Kibler supports dedicated Lucy Corr staff
| | |
Spend a day at Lucy Corr with Rodney D. Kibler, Ph.D., and it quickly becomes clear he is a familiar and trusted presence. Each visit starts at the daily morning meeting, where about 20 department managers gather. Kibler brings a short mental health topic.
Unlike most health care providers, who step on campus to treat residents, Kibler’s focus is on the well-being of the staff — and that keeps him busy and fulfilled. “It’s always a good day, because I’m heavily utilized,” he said.
“Working in health care can bring unique demands, and we believe in giving our team members resources they can use when they need them,” said Jenae Briggs, Health Care Center Administrator. “Bringing Dr. Rodney in is one way we support the people who care for others every day. When our staff feel supported, our residents feel it, too.”
| | Team members support The Span Center at annual Luncheon | | |
Members of the Lucy Corr team joined community leaders and advocates at The Span Center’s annual Empty Plate Luncheon on Oct. 16 at the Dewey Gottwald Center in Richmond. The event supports The Span Center’s work helping older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers across Central Virginia maintain independence, connection and quality of life.
This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. B. Cameron Webb, Virginia State Health Commissioner, addressed the health effects of social isolation and the importance of staying connected. Lucy Corr was proud to take part in an event that reflects many of the same priorities we see in our own community each day.
Thank you to The Span Center for bringing together organizations and individuals committed to supporting older adults throughout Central Virginia.
| | Lucy Corr selected to host Chesterfield Chamber Night Out | | |
Every month, the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce brings its members together at a different host site for Chamber Night Out. The event gives members a chance to network in a relaxed environment. For October, the Chamber selected Lucy Corr.
Last week roughly 50 Chamber members filled the Mast Auditorium with Lucy Corr’s leadership, Health Center Commissioners and Lucy Corr Foundation trustees on hand to help host. Lucy Corr CEO Michael Cunningham took the stage to welcome guests, and Chamber President Jonathan Greenhill spoke about the community, its history and the Health Center Commission that governs the community.
