We are getting close to seeing the 2022 building season break, as long as this weather pattern changes. I always tell our team that as soon as you see planters are in the fields the busy season is starting, and we have yet to see them. We are getting close, and everyone is looking forward to some nice weather and job site progress.

Since our last newsletter, Lumber Specialties has received more clarity on our current order file, project scheduling, and staffing headcounts. I am pleased to announce that our lead times are improving, and we will be able to service all market segments better.

Trusses

  • Small no draw- 2 weeks (small additions/garages)
  • No draw- 3 weeks
  • Simple residential draw- 4 weeks
  • Complex residential draw- 6 weeks
  • Large multifamily draw- 8 weeks

We appreciate the business and would like to welcome you to stop into either facility for a tour if you are in the area.

Engineered Wood Product Update

Boise still has Lumber Specialties on allocation based on our 2020 purchasing volume of LVL, I Joist, and rim board. Overall, they are performing well, and taking care of Lumber Specialties and our customers. They are still dealing with raw material and freight issues, but I do think it is getting better.

To supplement our needs, Lumber Specialties has decided to use untreated glulam for our projects that include headers and beams. All beams are sized by our designers to verify that they will carry all loads. Plus the framers will save money on nails!

LSL remains a problem in 2022. Lumber Specialties stocks 2x6 LVL and 2x4 LVL on occasion for your straight or tall wall needs. Keep in mind that treated glulam is available for your deck projects.
