Lummi Nation School Families,
We are pleased to share with our community the efforts to help LNS become a Bully-Free Zone. Throughout the year our Administration, with the help of Christine Little, Dr. Hill, Ashlee Carstens, Joseph Shepherd, and Matthew Johnson, and Elders have been fostering discussions with our youth about Bullying and its effects. Our focus has been on identifying what bullying looks like, how it makes us feel, why it happens, and what to do when we see or experience bullying around us. We know that healthy relationships with each other is our greatest tool in the prevention of bully type behaviors at LNS. The presence and guidance of our Elders in the school environment has been monumental. Our students are hearing the stories of the previous generations struggles and the perseverance it takes to become well rounded young men and women. We are grateful for the time, love and respect given to our children from our Elders. Hey’sxw’qe! We will continue to foster anti-bullying supports to our children and strive to become a safe place for all to learn the Schelangen Way.
Respectfully,
Matthew Johnson
