The pandemic has made it challenging to have our usual family gatherings, so we have partnered with UBC's INSTRCC and the CCM to launch a virtual Lunar New Year celebration and social media campaign. The hope is to celebrate LNY virtually with a socially-distanced twist!

EXTENDED - On view until Tuesday, June 15, 2021
Marlo Wylie Brillon is a Skidegate Haida and Northern Cree artist from Courtenay, BC. Her piece “Kalga Jaad and Xuuya” was inspired by her reading from Swanton’s Ethnography of the Haida, and the short tale of Kalga Jaad soothing the fussy Raven by breastfeeding him to keep him quiet and calm. The story also conjured imagery presenting nude female form, as was natural and without shame in Indigenous cultures.
