Meet URCC Board Member
Charlie Miller
Business Solutions Advisory Group

In 2006, following 35 years of what he terms “traditional employment," URCC Board Member Charlie Miller of Business Solutions Advisory Group decided to focus on improving the results attained by other people who had the heavy responsibility of running a business. He has helped a broad range of organizations achieve the outcomes they desire, from start-ups to fully established businesses.

Utilizing a participative and inclusive leadership technique throughout his career, Charlie discovered that the success of the enterprise is related to the extent to which the workforce is knowledgeable about the vision, objectives and priorities of the company and its customers. This results in a positive mindset and powerful commitment to a shared agenda. As a result, employees enjoy significantly greater satisfaction in their work which leads to improved performance resulting in more positive results.

Charlie also runs our monthly Executive Express-O program where member CEOs and solopreneurs gather to solve problems and discuss the issues that keep them up at night.
Expert Networker Rob Peters Taught Us
Networking Secrets for Success

Expert Networker and Chamber member Rob Peters of Rob Peters Entertainment facilitated his Networking Secrets for Success seminar just for us at the Chamber office in Plainville last Thursday.

In his seminar, Rob discussed why we network and how we go about choosing a networking event. He helped us with how we should prepare to attend and told us what we should bring to the event -- his networking toolkit.

Also, Rob gave us valuable advice on starting the conversation and even more importantly what we should and should NOT talk about -- like politics, religion, and gossiping about other people at the event.

Sturdy Memorial Hospital
Strength after Breast Cancer Exercise Program at Sturdy Memorial Hospital

If you or a loved one are a breast cancer survivor, you may be interested in Sturdy Memorial Hospital’s program, Strength After Breast Cancer (Strength ABC). This four week program is a series of gradual exercise classes for women who are at risk for developing lymphedema or who have stable lymphedema as a result of breast cancer treatment.

Strength ABC is based upon the Physical Activity and Lymphedema (PAL) Trial which identified that gradual weight lifting can help reduce the occurrence of developing lymphedema. Strength ABC can also aid in preventing the decline in activities of daily living that can be a result of cancer treatments, while also helping to improve body image.

Classes are taught by a certified Strength ABC instructor, in the Cardiac Pulmonary Exercise Facility at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Evaluations for eligibility are conducted by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. The cost is $60.00 for the four week program,  grants are available for those who qualify.  Please call  508-236-7348  for more information.

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is a full-service, independent, financially stable, not-for-profit acute care community hospital in Attleboro, which serves southeastern Massachusetts and nearby Rhode Island.
