Laura Ng serves as the Human Trafficking Specialist at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center who, along with their partners, are the front-line responders in Chicago to reports of child sexual abuse.
Prior to being at the Chicago CAC, Laura served as the Executive Director at Traffick Free for ten years, leading a team of volunteers to achieve milestones in the organization’s history including opening a drop-in center in early 2017 for adult female-identified survivors of sex trafficking.
Laura is also proactive about creatively using a myriad of platforms from which to connect with the public. In 2011, she boldly wrote and self-directed a monologue depicting the psychological trauma-bond formed in a trafficking victim’s mind. She illustrated the battle of overcoming manipulation and the pursuits of love and inclusion that most sex trafficking victim’s face in wanting to break free from the Life.
Laura received a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2015 with a concentration in Community Health and Urban Development. She was recognized by her alma mater in 2018 with the Rising Alumni Award.
