Head of the FILM Department at Ringling College of Art + Design, Bradley Battersby has amassed a wide range of experience in the film and television industry as a writer, director, producer and cinematographer.
A graduate of Stanford University and the American Film Institute, Battersby embarked on his professional career in New York City. His first film,
THE MORNING DURING, aired on HBO
and landed Battersby a coveted directing position on staff at the venerable commercial production company Bean/Kahn Films.
With his screenplays starting to attract attention, Battersby relocated to the West Coast in 1986. His first major script sale came with IN EXTREMIS, with Jeb Stuart (DIE HARD) producing for 20th Century Fox. Writing assignments followed from many of the major studios.
Battersby’s first feature as writer-director was
BLUE DESERT, starring Courteney Cox,
followed by THE JOYRIDERS, starring Martin Landau, Kris Kristofferson, and Elisabeth Moss; RED LETTERS, starring Peter Coyote, Jeremy Piven and Nastassja Kinski; and JESUS THE DRIVER and HANGMAN. Most recently, he wrote and directed THE LUCKY 6 with students at Ringling College.
