Families Housing Families

JOIN US ON DECEMBER 13TH!

We've achieved so much together this month! With your support we've defeated Prop 33 which would have destroyed California's rental market and put many housing providers out of business.

Please join us on Friday December 13th in Altadena for a no-host lunch to celebrate these successes, get an update on current regulations and discuss the future multi-family rental industry in Pasadena. A fair, just and equitable rental housing measure on the ballot in 2026 is a very real possibility...but we need your help.

RSVP with names of attendees and details will be sent.

PASADENA SAYS NO TO EXTREME RENT CONTROL

Amid the drama of election day, it's easy to lose track of local issues. LA County has now released local election results, which show that Pasadena has voted decisively against extreme rent control and vacancy control, by 56% to 44%.

This is a huge shift from the previous ballot measures from Michael Weinstein in 2018 and 2020, which were defeated state-wide, but were favored in Pasadena, leading the anti-housing provider extremists to push for Measure H in 2022.

Pasadenans have now seen the real consequences of putting rental housing policy into the hands of unelected activists, and they are not impressed. No longer can extremists claim that they are enacting "the will of the people".

MORE DELAY ON FAIR RELOCATION

Following a claimed 14 meetings, the Rent Board this week reviewed its excessive relocation allowances, which can exceed $38,000.

Despite the many promises of fair treatment for small owners, the Rent Board only considered minimal reductions in the unreasonable demands made on people who just want to move back into their own homes.

We thank the many owners who took part in the Rent Board's surveys, and those who took part in this week's meeting to ask for fair treatment. It was thanks to these testimonies that the Board is reconsidering its plans, which will now be reviewed again in January 2025.

Thank you,
