"[Lundgren] did an excellent job organizing the critical path schedule activities to successfully build our new facilities. ... Due to their expertise, substantial dollars were saved. We truly considered them part of our team, looking out for the District's best interests and would not hesitate to acquire them to manage future projects of the District."

- Jerry Skaff, Director of Construction and Modernization for the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, for which Lundgren has performed pre-construction and construction management services on two recent projects.

With this issue of Lundgren Management Corporation's Industry Connector, we're reflecting on the positive events of 2012 and looking forward with optimism to a promising 2013.

In 2012, we've celebrated Lundgren's 25th anniversary with pride, saluting the team members who have contributed to much to our success over a quarter century. As you'll read below, our success and commitment to integrity, leadership and teamwork has gained recognition in US Builders Review, a major national industry media publication, and we are grateful for the acknowledgment.

As we approach 2013, we look forward to the evolution of a number of projects that are in progress as well as those potential projects that will be built throughout our state as a result of several dozen school districts' passage of school construction bond measures in the November election. Each of these represents an opportunity to build lasting projects that will serve the educational needs of California students for many years to come, and we embrace those opportunities.

We expect the coming months and years will be a time of robust activity at Lundgren Management, as we continue to uphold the standards of excellence we've strived to establish in our first 25 years. We look forward to continuing the many positive working relationships we've enjoyed in 2012, and we look forward to building new ones in 2013, too.

We wish you a happy, healthy holiday season and and prosperous new year!

With best regards,

Dale Lundgren

New College Classroom Building

Santa Barbara Community College District

The Santa Barbara Community College District has been pleased with the Lundgren Management team's performance on a humanities building modernization project, which we reported in the October issue of "Industry Connector." We're happy to report that Lundgren Management will continue working with SBCC on another new project, as the college district has awarded Lundgren Management a contract to provide Construction Management services for a new $17 million classroom building. The scope of services includes RFP oversight for Architectural Selection, Design Management and Budget Analysis.

Bakersfield City School District

Lundgren Management's work with the Bakersfield City School District was featured in the Fall 2012 issue of the US Builders Review, a nationally recognized trade publication that is heavily read by leaders in the construction industry.
"Over the course of a quarter century Lundgren has prided itself on simply delivering what was promised, and without complication," says the article written by Camila Osorno. "The company provides a one-two punch of construction management and general contracting services in addition to project management services and facilities management, reassuring clients that its talented professionals can oversee a building throughout its useful lifecycle."
Lundgren Management is overseeing 27 prime contractors on the Bakersfield City School District's project: The construction of a new middle school and elementary school scheduled to open in fall 2013.
The two schools' combined cost is an estimated $60 million. Dr. Douglass K. Fletcher Elementary School is expected to have a capacity of 785 students and the Paul L. Cato Middle School will be capable of handling 1,356 students. The schools, adjacent to each other, will have room to expand on their approximately 41 acres.
"Lundgren's enthusiasm and determination will set the tone for all 27 prime contractors involved," the US Builders Review article says. "In the end, the team at Lundgren Management will see to it that the Bakersfield City School District receives two new schools capable of meeting both today and tomorrow's academic needs."

BIM Info Presented at CSBA Trade Show

California School Boards Association Conference, San Francisco

Members of the Lundgren Management team participated in the 2012 California School Boards Association Annual Education Conference and Trade Show Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in San Francisco, offering education professionals a look at how Lundgren Management can save school districts money and help them avoid construction-related problems.

One of the highlights of Lundgren Managements booth at the CSBA expo was the presentation of information on 3-D Building Information Modeling, a state-of-the-art technology that helps provide cost-effective, worry-free construction projects from inception through completion.

Lundgren's team members enjoyed the opportunity to meet face-to-face with education leaders and to discuss the ways in which Lundgren Management can help meet future construction and project management needs.

New Work on the Horizon

Palmdale School District and Hueneme Elementary School District

Lundgren Management received some great news recently on two important school construction projects:

In the Hueneme Elementary School District, a Program Management Contract was awarded Dec. 10 to help manage the district's $19.6 million bond program, including Architectural Selection, Design Management and Master Planning.

And, in the Palmdale School District, a contract was awarded to Lundgren Management for Pre-Construction Services for the new construction of the $33 million David G. Millen Intermediate School.

Lundgren is proud to be awarded both of these contracts and we look forward to working with both school districts to create outstanding facilities and an efficient construction process.
