Letter from the Director

Thank you, Heather!
Today's message begins with a piece of news that carries sadness and excitement. Heather Buiwit, our Digital Services Librarian, who has accepted another position within the town and will be leaving the library this month, will be missed by all. We are excited for her opportunity, though. Heather has been a consummate team player since she started with us four years ago. She always brings a smile to each day, and is recognized for her willingness to help and for her patience. Her contributions to the library, for patrons, staff, trustees, will not soon be forgotten. Thank you and good luck in your future endeavors, Heather !
Curbside Pickup
We have been offering curbside pickup of library materials by appointment since June 15th, and more and more people are taking advantage of this service. We are glad to be getting people some of the library materials they desire! All materials that are returned to the library are quarantined for 72 hours in our Community Room, then they are checked in and reshelved.
Statewide and CWMARS interlibrary loans are still not back to full operation. You can, however, put holds on any materials in our catalog. When you place holds on items that are available in our library, we pull the items from the shelf, and you are sent a notification that it is available. Once you receive this notification, you can call us to schedule a time to pick up the materials. These materials will be checked out to you ahead of your appointment and brought to you in a sealed paper bag.

Our community is off to a great start with summer reading, and lots of people are taking advantage of our new reading log software, Beanstack! Even though we've all had to reimagine our summer plans, let's keep working to make reading a part of this time! More details are available below.

Governor Baker has given the go-ahead for museums to reopen as part of Phase 3 of the Reopening Massachusetts plan.

The Discovery Museum staff has been hard at work to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment for families to play and learn together at the Museum again. They are ready to welcome you back!

Advance ticket reservations will be required for ALL visitors --including members!--in order to regulate reduced capacity in the building. NO walk-ins will be allowed.

Tickets will be available through the museum's website beginning July 9 for members, July 26 for non-members .

Please note that the library's passes are not currently available to reserve. Tickets must be purchased directly from the museum's website.
