Making Luton town centre safer

The first Luton BID-funded metal detecting wands were issued by Luton SAFE to town centre evening economy venues last week.

This is one of the initiatives that Luton BID has been working with Luton SAFE on to help make our town centre venues safer and more appealing to visit.

The equipment will enable businesses to detect anyone carrying a knife or other metal object. The wands have been made available to all town centre venues with Brewery Tap, After 8 Club, Grosvenor Casino and The Galaxy Centre taking up the offer of the high-tech equipment. Relevant staff from these businesses also received an hour-long guidance session from Bedfordshire Police and the Security Industry Authority which was hugely beneficial to those in attendance.

Have your say today

Luton BID is coming to the end of its mid-term review and we want your feedback on our progress so far.

The BID started in 2015 and is now just past the half way point of its current five-year term, which is why now is the the perfect time for you to have your say and influence what happens next.

Luton town centre businesses have been invited to meet with one of our surveyors and take part in our Luton BID Business Survey throughout September. Although we will not be holding any more interviews, you can still feedback on the success and progress of current BID projects and make sure your views on Luton town centre are heard.

Download the survey HERE and send it back to us by Monday 9th October.

Your responses will help us shape future BID activity.
Tidy Day success
Thank you to the 20 volunteers who rallied together to help clean up the town centre streets during our Luton BID Tidy Day last Friday.

The volunteers, who were all from Luton town centre businesses,  concentrated on the areas around the public car parks during the two-hour clean-up.

The team included employees from The Mall, The Galaxy Centre, Debenhams, Thistle Express and Tokko Youth Centre. They collected 17 bags of litter during the event which supports the BID's wider street cleaning programme to improve the appearance and overall feel of the town centre.
