Tidy Day - Friday, 5th April 2019
Our first Tidy Day of 2019 will be even bigger than usual, with more clean-up activities and opportunities for more people to get involved - join us on Friday 5 th  April.

As well as the usual litter collection, the BID and volunteers will be supported by Luton Borough Council's cleaning team and park officers to help tidy green spaces, plant additional flowers and shrubs and refresh street furniture.

Instead of being open to those working in Luton town centre, anyone can take part this time. The event will start at 8am and finish at 2pm but volunteers are welcome to join in for any part of the day.

To join us as an individual or team please email HERE with your full contact details for further details.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to make a positive an impact on your town centre.
Retail Business Rate Relief

At the Autumn Budget 2018, the Chancellor announced that eligible retailers will receive a one third discount (after other mandatory and discretionary reliefs have been applied) on their Business Rates bills for two years from April 2019.

For a property to benefit from the discount the criteria is:
  • The property must be occupied
  • The rateable value (RV) must be less than £51,000
  • The property must be wholly or mainly used as a shop, restaurant, cafe or drinking establishment
  • The property must be reasonably accessible to visiting members of the public

BID businesses should note that any discount does not impact upon the BID levy.

Professional Services - sign up today
We will be launching a brand new campaign this spring.

Called Professional Luton, it will promote and celebrate the wide range of professional services we have here in Luton town centre. These are businesses working in the following sectors: legal, insurance, creative/ digital, accountancy, banking, commercial/ residential agents and administrators (for example virtual assistants).

We are commissioning a local film maker to work with the BID to help us create a short Professional Luton film. We are now seeking professional services to get involved.

We are looking for one business from each of the sectors listed above to be interviewed on camera. If we have several requests from same sector businesses we reserve the right to select the business which enables us to illustrate the full geography of the town centre. However, even if your business is not on film we will include you in a brand new professional services directory, which will boost your businesses profile yet further and make finding you online even easier.

So, what next?

Please email our dedicated promotions@lutonbid.org email address (or click on the black box below) with your name, job title, business name and the sector you work in. And we will get back to you later this month.
