Luton BID featured on BBC Look East
Our Luton BID Chair, Gavin O’Brien, was interviewed by BBC Look East yesterday in a piece about how businesses are preparing to reopen under Tier 2 (High) local restrictions. 

Gavin talked about the extended opening hours and how the BID and partners are encouraging shoppers to visit the town centre during off peak times.

Promoting 'Off Peak' hours
Retailers will be allowed to open for extended periods in the run up to Christmas - further details following the government announcement HERE. 

We would encourage town centre businesses to to consider opening for longer and, if you are going to do so, please let us know so we can promote these times for you.
 
Working with Luton Borough Council, The Mall Luton and The Galaxy Centre, we are trying to promote the use of the town centre in the less busy times in order to reduce queuing and make the town as COVID safe as possible. 

We will be asking the public to come into town before 11am and after 3pm and would be grateful if you could include a similar message to your customers where possible.
As a result, The Mall Luton will also be changing their shopping hours.
 
The new opening hours will be:
2nd December to 20th December
Monday – Saturday, 9am to 8pm
Sunday, 11am to 5pm
 
21st December to 23rd December
Monday – Wednesday, 8am-8pm
 
Thursday 24th December
8am to 5pm

Additionally, parking will be free in the main Mall car parks (not Library Road Car Park) from 5pm-9pm, with a flat £1 fee after that.
Small Business Saturday
We will be visiting businesses over the coming weeks as part of our Luton town centre promotional campaign which will link in with the national Small Business Saturday initiative.

Small Busines Saturday is this Saturday, 5th December, but we will be celebrating our small town centre businesses this month and beyond - that is what we do continually. 

If you would like to get involved, please email [email protected] and one of the team will come and take pictures of you holding our Small Business Saturday board (all in a COVID safe way). We will also get some details to promote your business.

Big Change Luton
As a proud partner of the Big Change Luton scheme, we are continuing to support the Luton Homeless Partnership to promote the initiative.

This week Luton town centre business - Don Miller’s - have placed a large banner in their window which on the entrance ramp into The Mall. 

We have also been given some A4 posters for businesses to put up in there windows too.
