New national COVID-19 restrictions from 5 November
Information on the new national restrictions, including what they mean for working from home and business closures, why they are being introduced and the financial support available has been released.
 
From Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December, the Government is taking the following action:
·   Requiring people to stay at home, except for specific purposes.
·   Preventing gathering with people you do not live with, except for specific purposes.
·   Closing certain businesses and venues.

Furlough Scheme Extended and Further Economic Support announced
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended for a month with employees receiving 80% of their current salary for hours not worked and further economic support announced.
 
People and businesses across the UK are being provided with additional financial support as part of the government’s plan for the next phase of its response to the coronavirus outbreak.
 
In addition, business premises forced to close in England are to receive grants worth up to £3,000 per month under the Local Restrictions Support Grant.
