Find out who the lucky winners are in the Golden Ticket prize draw, including all the information you need on how to get involved in our #LutonChristmas social media campaign.
First Golden Ticket winners

A local grandmother and a great auntie have each won £500 of shopping vouchers in Luton BID's first festive Golden Ticket draw.

Gill King, 63 and Chris James, 66, both from Luton, were among four lucky local shoppers to win in this week's prize draw.

£2,000 of shopping vouchers has now been awarded with four more winners set to be drawn on Monday 12th December.

Gill said the win couldn't have come at a better time for the family and she is looking forward to treating her great nieces and nephews to some extra toys this Christmas.  Chris will be following her usual Christmas tradition and inviting her daughter and two grandchildren over for Christmas dinner this year. M&S and Maxim Jewellery are among the shops she plans to spend her vouchers in.

Find out more about this week's winners and the businesses they are choosing to spend their winning vouchers in on our website SOON.

If you didn't win this week, don't fear, the second and final draw will take place on Monday 12th December.

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a national campaign which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.

It's taking place on Saturday 3rd December with lots of #smallbizsatuk social media activity that promises to have a lasting impact on small businesses that get involved.

If you are planning an event, activity or even something as simple as a themed window display then let us know and we will push it out via our social media channels.  Tweet pictures and details to @LutonBID, message us on Facebook HERE or you can email us at  [email protected] .

You can find the Small Business Saturday website  HERE.

Lighting Up Luton success

Crowds turned up to enjoy the Christmas lights switch-on in Luton town centre at the weekend and t he personal appearances we had organised by Chase & Marshall from PAW Patrol proved a big hit.

The canine duo met hundreds of families over the afternoon in the lead-up to the official switch-on.

Luton BID is committed to fostering a sense of pride in our town and one of our main aims is to entice more people into the town centre, especially over the busy festive period. We were delighted to be able to support Luton Borough Council to host such a fantastic event.

We sent our photographer to the lights switch-on, see all the photos for yourself on our Facebook album HERE.

Luton BID Linked Success

Our second Luton BID Linked event took place last week at Tokko Youth Centre and proved to be another success.

Luton town centre businesses  attended to hear from speakers Eamonn Keenan, Head of CPD and Short Courses at the University of Bedfordshire and Luke Huntley, Associate Director of Blue Arrow.

The group also heard from a Blue Arrow apprentice, Kareem, who spoke about his apprenticeship programme.

The theme was effective recruitment and apprenticeships, and feedback from businesses about the venue and focus was positive.

We will let you know when the next Luton BID Linked will take place in the New Year.

Get involved in our #LutonChristmas social media campaign

This Christmas we are running a social media campaign and asking town centre businesses to share their festive photos and use the hashtag #LutonChristmas every time.

We will then share your images, tweets and messages - meaning your business will potentially reach thousands of new people and potential customers.

We have a step by step guide on how to get involved with our social media campaign HERE.

The Glutton Machine is here

The Glutton machine that has been purchased by Luton BID as part of our commitment to provide improved cleaning services to the town centre is here and is in use.

The powerful vacuuming machine arrived last week and is being used by Luton Borough Council to enhance the street cleaning services already in place.

One of the first jobs it was used for was to clean the hard-to-reach pavement cracks and kerbsides in George Street and St George's Square ahead of the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday.
