Glutton machine cleans up
84 giant refuse sacks which amount to 21,000 litres of cigarette butts, chewing gum and other items of hard-to-reach litter have been collected by the BID-funded glutton machine since January this year.
The vacuuming machine was purchased at the end of 2016 as part of our commitment to provide additional cleaning services to the town centre to improve and complement those delivered by Luton Borough Council.
The machine, which has been loaned to and is operated by the council while the BID continues to fund the maintenance costs.
This is just one of our green projects. For more information on how we are helping to clean up the town centre click

St George's Day celebrations
Thousands turned up to enjoy the St George's Day celebrations in Luton town centre on Saturday.
A real-life St George and his dragon, knight challenge, performances from a local Morris dance group, a traditional Punch & Judy show, water zorbing and climbing wall were among the activities organised by Luton Borough Council.
The Luton Mela Talent Quest returns again this year and is open to any individuals, groups, dancers, singers, comedians or magicians - whatever the talent.
The first heat will be on 29th April, The Mall, midday to 4pm.
