Find out about our targeted street cleaning for Luton town centre, with news on our Glutton machine and new chewing gum boards...
Glutton Machine
Over 50 giant refuse sacks of cigarette butts and chewing gum have been collected by the BID funded Glutton machine since it arrived in Luton town centre two months ago.
The deep cleaning machine, purchased by the Luton Business Improvement District as part of its commitment to provide additional cleaning services to the town centre, was launched at the end of November 2016 and has since collected 12,500 litres of rubbish and been operated for 245 hours.
This machine was purchased by the BID as part of its commitment to provide additional cleaning services to the town centre.

Targeted overnight street cleaning
Our monthly deep cleaning programme focuses on streets and areas most in need of targeted street cleaning will continue throughout 2017.
Town centre areas due to receive deep cleans over the year include Silver Street, John Street, Park Street West, Chapel Street and Wellington Street.
The first deep clean of 2017 will target Bute Street and Guilford Street and will take place on 25th March.
As much cleaning as possible will take place overnight to ensure minimal disruption during the day. For more information on our deep cleaning schedule, click HERE.
Combating chewing gum
Continuing our commitment to improving the town centre environment and cleaning services, we will be investing in chewing gum boards.
The boards will be located around the town centre and will encourage people not to drop their gum on the streets.
If you would like to nominate an area for a board, email
info@lutonbid.org.
