Luvk9s April monthly newsletter
April brings us the beginning of spring and a multitude of holidays including one quirky holiday - April Fool's Day. Nobody seems to know the origin of this holiday, but experts believe it dates back to at least the Renaissance if not earlier. (Click here to read more about the history of April Fool's Day.)

Canadian-American author O.A. Battista once observed that "a dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk." Unfortunately, many dog owners find walking their dogs to be a nightmare. Dogs walk faster than we do and in their exuberance of being outdoors often yank and pull on leash.

It's easy to forget that dogs are not born knowing how to walk nicely on a leash; dogs need to be taught this skill.

So how do you teach your dog to walk nicely on leash?

The approach of spring signals the return of outdoor activities that are challenging in the chill of winter - like walking your dog! Walking the dog is an activity most dog owners enjoy. Not only is it an opportunity to socialize with other fellow dog walkers - it's also a great form of exercise.

But what if your dog decides he is not going to walk? What should you do to get your dog moving if he stops and grounds?
