My dog won't listen!

Coming when called should always be fun and highly rewarded.

While some dogs seem to be naturals at listening, others specialize in selective hearing. Does your dog fall into this category? Is there anything you can do to improve your dog's responsiveness?

Breed of the month: ROTTWEILER

The Rottweiler is one of the top 10 favorite dog breeds in the United States. The breed was showcased by Alexandra Day in her series of "Good Dog, Carl" children's books. But did you also know that:

  • Rottweilers were originally bred to be herding and guard dogs and were used years ago to pull farm carts?
  • Tail docking was originally done to protect the dog when pulling carts but is now less prevalent?
  • Rottweilers are very intelligent and easy to train but training IS required? Many states ban Rottweilers due to their instinctual guarding behavior.
Upcoming group classes
Luvk9s will be offering classes in Big Canoe and Red Barn Kennels in Dawsonville.:
  • Puppy class (starts October 17)
  • Basic obedience (starts October 17)
  • Canine Good Citizen/intro to therapy dog work; basic obedience II (starts Sept. 18)
  • Agility (starts Sept. 18)
Luvk9s will also be offering basic obedience class and puppy class on Friday mornings at Ball Ground Hounds in Ball Ground beginning Oct. 4.


Luvk9s also continues to offer private lessons in North Georgia as well as Canton, Ball Ground, Woodstock, Marietta and surrounding areas.
