Celebrating 529 College Savings Day Today with 2 $529 MACS Scholarships for Newborns
Today is celebrated nationally as 529 College Savings Day to promote awareness of 529 college savings plans that offer tax advantages to help stretch your savings dollar. This year, in partnership with the Mississippi Hospital Association, two babies born today will go home with $529 MACS scholarships to kick off their education savings!

The babies will be those born closest to 5:29 am and 5:29 pm at a participating hospital. The list of those hospitals is:

Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi

OCH Regional Medical Center

Forrest General Hospital

Rush Foundation Hospital

Anderson Regional Medical Center

Merit Health Wesley

George Regional Health System

North Mississippi Medical Center

Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center

Bolivar Medical Center

Merit Health Central Office

Merit Health Madison

Merit Health River Oaks Hospital

Merit Health River Regional Medical Center

Merit Health Woman's Hospital

Merit Health Natchez

St. Dominic Hospital

Baptist Memorial Hospital - Desoto

King's Daughters Medical Center

In addition, all babies born at these hospitals today will receive an “I’m a 529 Baby” bib, as long as supplies last. Most parents don’t realize that by the time your child is in the 3 rd Grade, he or she is halfway to college. And, now that MACS savings can be used for K12 public, private, or religious tuition, saving early can make an even bigger difference for your child’s future!
Another Great Unclaimed Property Event in Marshall County Last Week
It was great to be back in my hometown of Holly Springs last Tuesday helping reunite people with their unclaimed property. More than 70 people came in to meet with me and my unclaimed property team and we should know how much money we were able to return to them very soon.

We have two more events currently scheduled that you’ll want to add to your calendar if you’re in the area:
Walthall County
Thursday, June 7
3:30 to 6:30 pm
Walthall County Library
707 Union Road, Tylertown

Claiborne County
Monday, June 18
3:00 to 6:00 pm
William “Matt” Ross Administration Building
510 Market Street, Port Gibson

We’re so thankful for the partnerships we’ve forged with the County Supervisors in places like Walthall, Claiborne, and Marshall counties to help reunite Mississippians with their money!
