Congratulations to our 2018 Egg Bowl Tuition Toss Contestants
As the official halftime sponsor of the Egg Bowl, College Savings Mississippi hosted the Tuition Toss on the field during halftime. Two students, who were chosen at random from a pool of registered contestants, were given 30 seconds to throw up to 30 footballs through a target. The student with the most footballs through the target was the winner while the other student was the runner-up.

Congratulations to Michael Boyles, a 19-year-old student at Mississippi State University from Clinton, Mississippi, who won the tuition toss and went home with a $2,529 MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) scholarship. Hayden Tutor, an 18-year-old student at the University of Mississippi from Madison, Mississippi, was the runner-up, winning a $529 MACS scholarship.
Update on the Sumner Hill
Junior High Students
On September 26, I visited Mr. Bradley Pope’s personal finance class at Sumner Hill Junior High School in Clinton to find out about their BOSS Challenge Team. This eight-week interscholastic competition provides an opportunity to develop personal finance and entrepreneurial skills that will last these students a lifetime.

I heard back from Mr. Pope this month and the students had a winning performance in this competition! They placed first in several categories, including the overall scorecard, total sales, total profit, and stock price.

Congratulations to all these students and to Mr. Pope and Sumner Hill Principal Dr. Christie Claxton, for promoting this great learning opportunity!
More MACS Scholarships to Award at the MHSAA State High School Championships
I’ve been busy this month, speaking to the Meridian Rotary Club, the Hinds County Republican Women, and the Harrison County Republican Women.

Later this week, I will be at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) state football championships at the University of Southern Mississippi, where College Savings Mississippi and I will be giving out a $529 MACS scholarship at each of the six games! If you’re going to be there, come register for a chance to compete for one of those scholarships. Visit my website for the official rules.

Remember: MACS can be used to help pay not only for college tuition, but also mandatory fees, books, laptops, certain room and board expenses, and even K-12 tuition at a private or religious school.
