Since I took office, we have distributed more than $120,000 in MACS scholarships through the Art Contest and other opportunities that promote college savings and help students get a jumpstart on their own accounts.
Come Visit with My Unclaimed
Property Team
My unclaimed property specialists were in Carthage last week and helped dozens of local residents and businesses check the unclaimed property list and start the process for claiming their lost funds. Many thanks to the Leake County Board of Supervisors for inviting us and helping to set up this great event. Partnerships like these have helped my office distribute in just 7 years over half of all the unclaimed property distributed since the Mississippi program started in 1982. That’s over $93 million back into the Mississippi economy!

They will be in Richland later this week and then Magnolia at the end of the month:

Friday, February 22, 2019
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Richland Community Center, 410 E. Harper Street, Richland

Thursday, February 28
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Chancery Court Annex, 175 South Cherry Street, Magnolia

We are particularly excited about heading to Magnolia because, working with Chancery Clerk Becky Buie, we were able to find just over $17,000 for Pike County itself! We already have events on the books for Union and Lauderdale Counties in March. Remember: You can always check the State unclaimed property list here to see if you have any money waiting for you.
Many Thanks to the Girl Scouts of
Greater Mississippi
We had a great time hosting the Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi last week for our Fifth Annual Girl Scouts Career and Financial Literacy Day. Over two dozen middle and high school aged Girl Scouts spent the day with us, doing special financial education activities and meeting women in government and non-profit jobs who shared their experiences and advice.

Many thanks to Auditor Shad White and Deputy Insurance Commissioner Mark Haire for speaking with the Scouts about the daily functions of their offices, as well. They learned so much about opportunities in public service that could be waiting for them some day!
