Lauderdale this Thursday
Our unclaimed property team will be in Meridian on Thursday, March 21 st to meet with local residents and businesses and help them reunite with their money:

When we worked with Lauderdale County on a similar event in February 2018, we returned nearly $420,000 to the Lauderdale economy. We are very excited to partner with the County again this year.

Remember to check the State unclaimed property list on my website to see if you have any money waiting for you. If you come by the Courthouse Annex on Thursday, please bring the following with you to help expedite your claims:

  • Photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID card, etc.)
  • Your Social Security Card
  • Proof of address (utility bill, etc.)
  • Proof of name change (marriage license, divorce decree, etc.)
  • If the owner is deceased, bring the death certificate, will, obituary, or affidavit of death
Congratulations to our College Savings Mississippi Art Contest Winners
We had another outstanding year of artwork for our Sixth Annual College Savings Mississippi Art Contest. Our judges – Herbert Mays, professional portrait artist; Ricky Nobile, cartoonist and caricaturist; Charlotte Smelser, Arts Education Director for the Mississippi Arts Commission; and Limeul Eubanks of the Mississippi Department of Education’s Arts and World Languages, Secondary Education division – had a tough time choosing from among the over 1,200 submissions.

This year’s teacher winner is Amanda Bonner, art teacher at Hayes Cooper Center, who submitted 115 student entries! Our student winners are:

You can see their magnificent winning artwork above! Congratulations to all of our winners and to all the outstanding young artists who participated. And, many thanks to our judges for taking on the tough task from choosing the best of Mississippi’s very best!

We will host an awards ceremony for these young artists and their families on March 26 th at the Mississippi Museum of Art. And, then these winning submissions will be framed and hung at the Office of the State Treasurer in the Woolfolk Building in Jackson.

Shootout Winners, Too
This was the fifth year that College Savings Mississippi has partnered with the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) to host a Savings Shootout scholarship competition at each of the 12 games of the State High School Basketball Championships. And, it was an incredible year with an unprecedented 3 tie shootouts! In all we gave out $7,935 in Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) scholarships to Mississippians.
