Two More Unclaimed Property Events
Coming Up
Our unclaimed property team has been busy with events this month already in Harrison and Calhoun Counties. They have two more events coming up next week that you might want to add to your calendar if you’ll be nearby:

Tuesday, July 30, 2019
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Tupelo Furniture Market
1879 Coley Road, Building #5, Belden

Thursday, August 1, 2019
3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Tishomingo County Courthouse
1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka

I want to thank the Supervisors of Lee, Union, and Tishomingo Counties for partnering with us to help the families and businesses of North Mississippi find their unclaimed property and start the process of claiming it. We are close to distributing $100 million in unclaimed property since I took office in January 2012, which is over half of all the funds distributed since 1982. And, events like these help make the process of reuniting with your money very easy and convenient.

Individuals planning to attend either of these events are encouraged to bring the following to expedite their claims:

·        Photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID card, etc.)
·        Your Social Security Card
·        Proof of address (utility bill, etc.)
·        Proof of name change (marriage license, divorce decree, etc.)
·        If the owner is deceased, bring the death certificate, will, obituary, or affidavit of death

And, you can always check my website to see if your name is on the list. Remember to check your personal name, family names, and business names! Keep checking the list, too, because we are always updating it.
Save the Date for College Savings Day at the Mississippi Children’s Museum
September is celebrated nationwide as College Savings Month, and we are celebrating by partnering with the Mississippi Children’s Museum for the seventh consecutive year.

On Saturday, September 7, 2019, College Savings Mississippi will be at the Museum in Jackson with special financial education activities, opportunities to take pictures with Echo, and even two chances to win a $529 MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) scholarship. College Savings specialists will be on hand to talk to parents and grandparents about opening up MACS and MPACT (Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition) plans. Plus admission to the Museum will be just $5.29 all day.

The Daniel Tiger exhibit leaves the Children’s Museum on September 8, as well. So, get make sure to save the date on your calendar right away!
